Fishing Rods in the Z

Anyone ever try to bring fishing rods in their 370Z? I need to pick up a couple 6 foot rods and wanted to know if I could fit them in the Z.

Sit them in the front seat and arc them into the rear hatch and I don't see why not.

I can easily fit my 7' rod by arching it from the passenger seat foot area to the back of the hatch.

You can probably fit a 8-9' in there.

Sorry, I should have specified that these are offshore saltwater rods...there's no bend in them.

forza370z 08-02-2012 08:41 PM

Can the fishing rod be detached into 3 pieces no?

tomnavone 08-02-2012 08:45 PM

I carry a 6'6" one piece no problem with room to spare
Could probably fit a 7'

MattP725 08-02-2012 08:51 PM

You could probably fit it over the top of the passenger seat from the rear hatch as well (pointing forward).. the rear latch to the dashboard has to be over 6'

:iagree:

I've put a 6'6" rod in the z this way. Fit with plenty of room. I Put it from the trunk over the far passenger side so the rod doesn't slide back and forth across the beam

You should still have no problem stuffing those little 6footers in there

what beach tires do you use? :)

Threev8s 08-03-2012 07:37 AM

Thank you for all of the replies. That's what I needed to know. People always seem shocked when I pull large items out of this car...golf clubs, a large cooler, a week's worth of groceries, etc. I can take just about anything other than my family or bike in it.

Bridgestone Dueler REVO 2s, but that's on a completely different animal and I wouldn't subject that to the sand unless it was an emergency. :icon17:

I could tell you where to put it, but it might be uncomfortable. :icon23:

It's not the car that's too small, it's the rod that's too long. I switched to Emmrod last year

why would you want to take a Z parked next to a salt water enviorment and then bring dead fish into the storage area of your Z anyway. take a dd for stuff like that or rent a pickup...

Maybe its his only car, or maybe its a nice route to drive in the Z to where he is going fishing. Or maybe hes not your bitch. :happydance::gtfo2:

I'm not trying to take him away from you shoady. :supergay:

nissan's suck on the corrosion tip and saltwater exposure is the worst enemy. The Z cabin is too small to carry proper fishing gear. It would make for an uncomfortable ride regardless of how good the road is...

Threev8s 08-03-2012 01:59 PM

Since it seems to be a concern and I don't want anyone to lose any sleep, I'm just taking a ride to pick up a couple fishing rods. I don't use my Z to haul used fishing tackle, bait, or anything like that, not that there's anything wrong with it. :tiphat:

no sleep lost... if you can break em' down? they should fit... if not? you will have to tie the trunk and have them sticking out since they dont bend. Or you can risk sticking em out the window????

Have fun... peace! :driving: :tiphat:

I fit my 7'6" rods in mine all the time with no issues, exactly the way most have suggested, rod handle on the floor under the passenger dash extending into the hatch area.

2011 Nismo#91 08-03-2012 05:11 PM

I got a 2 piece rod, though a 6' rod will fit it will be annoying imo. The 2 piece easily fits behind the seats.
