Sure, a lighter- more fuel-efficient Z would be good for our times. A turbo 4-cylinder making more horsepower than the 370's 3.7 liter sounds good.
I think they should keep the character of the Z the same though: kind of a brute with precise handling and sports-car styling. This is where Nissan differentiates the Z compared to a Hyundai Genesis or Scion FR-S. in its character. |

Regarding your 2nd paragraph, that's exactly why I'm purchasing a current Z. If in the future, Nissan comes up with a much better Z, then it's time trade up and get it. If not, then I know that I'll be more than happy with the current Z. |
love how few 370s there are out there, and i hope they do go with a cheaper more accessible car so i wont feel the need to upgrade when it comes out. I would own the Z at its pinnacle

Or maybe the salesguy thinks the little gadgety torque meter is a battery meter. Salesguys are dumber than dirt. |

I was impressed by his honesty, but that doesn't help me judge a car correctly, if he can't answer important questions. :shakes head: |

Since the Z is low volume, Nissan doesn't need it to get 35MPG to help out their CAFE numbers. If I look into my crystal ball, I see a 200lb reduction in weight, similiar horsepower, and 30MPG highway, but nothing radically different. The YEN is a problem today, but it better not be by 2015 or that means the US recovery is still stalled or reversed.

What about questions you couldn't foresee? For example, when I test drove the FRS, it idled low and would hit 500rpm and bounce back up. Salesman had no clue about whether that was normal or whether the car was broken. Look, even if the salesman is clueless, he has to be willing to go ask someone about technical sh1t. And a salesman who could tell me, without reservation, that some technical issue is either "par for the course" or "just an anomaly with this one car", is a real asset. |
you are expecting a lot.

Otherwise, they are what they are, sleazy pricks in a suit just there to rip you off. And that's usually how I treat them, because that's what they deserve. |
last week they were selling vacuum cleaners at sears, wat do you expect?

And they don't even have to know about financing, because most dealerships have finance specialists there. |

I've found that generally car salesmen are the least knowledgeable people about cars in the world.

:iagree: This is almost exactly what I see. Approx. 3100lbs about 350hp coming from a 3.0FI, 22/30mpg and possibly a commercial friendly NA and/or an na hybrid option weighing about the same as our cars now... I would get the turbo of course. The turbo I see as an overpriced enthusiast option and the NA options ranging from proper pricing to seriously overpriced for the hybrid. The turbo possibly in limited numbers. (Nismo?) The pricing may start $1000 below the 2014 Z. But watch rapetastic option pkgs swell pricing to ridiculous levels as always. Wishful hoping is the next gen gets DCT. I hope they evolve the current bodystyle nicely? |

Best way to make it appeal to the masses:
4 cylinder front wheel drive (thus less parasitic drivetrain loss, easier to control for most people) 4 seater tall side windows for better visability change the name to "toyota camry" |
Very happy with our 09

Also says in a related article the current 3.7 VQ will be reworked and implemented for the new G. Sounds like DI?

Lately they're talking about more power...370z RS. Not convinced they'll do it, but glad they're leaning this way vs. smaller. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/12/09/03/amyhureg.jpghttps://m.facebook.com/?refsrc=http%...user=606345512

This is what we know about infiniti. Infiniti G37 next generation rumors and information, we diagnose MotorTrends latest insider interview in understanding changes to the Infiniti G in 2014 and 2015 This is what we know about Nissan. http://www.insideline.com/nissan/201...er-leaner.html It seems the Infinti line-up is going much more upscale while the Nissan is trying to make the Z more accessible. Infiniti will upgrade the v6 while nissan is looking into lighter weight powerplants. My guess is they are going two different ways. Best case scenario. The Z will have a v6 and a turbo 4. but from what i can gather. The "FM platform" chassis is going to die in the next generation. So expect the Z and G relationship to drift apart. |
