It's not always about maxing out your car purchase.

agreed, its not always about maxing out your money. its about getting a car YOU are happy with. if YOU are happy with the car YOU bought .. then great, but if your not then well *here we go again*

thats my point.. get what YOU are happy with. not only half happy with it

seen both an frs and brz at the track at buttonwillow and streets of willow, power deliver=unimpressive, suspension=unimpressive as well. My track buddies didn't even want to bother driving it at the track lol....

I believe my friend paid 31K+ out the door with full navi etc on the brz.

Fvck them budget azz fake mofo's. Lol. IBTL

I'm just kidding. Thing is... I really don't give a fvck. Everything people are saying on how the brz can compare to a Zin the utmost fantasyish theoretical sense of it feeling more sporty to drive vs having them both really battle it out on a track.
So whatever said... its all Bvllsh1t till it happens.

Last thing. Its funny, I bet if you were to backtrack on some posts on these guys from a year or two ago, they were most likely sating things like...

1). I can't wait for this FRS to come out. I really want a Z but its 35k+ with sport pkg and 2 seat sports cars kill on insurance. I can't afford it.
2). I'm really glad they are making a lightweight sports car like the FRS. Can't wait till it comes out. I'm just praying it comes with turbos so it can have power to match the Z.
3). If toyota doesn't come out with this. I. Will buy a used Z. I rather buy a new car. So the FRS is a better compromise for me. I don't trust used. Maybe from here to there I will get a promotion and be able to afford a Z after all.
4) my mortgage and kids won't allow to spend 35k on a proper Z. I will take a 25k FRS. Its right up my alley in price. I would get a gencoupe but rather wait to see what toyobaru does.

Now that the car is out... they want to forget all about the Z c0cksucking and what they really wanted to begin with. They bought the inferior powered car and can't handle it the fact they do 15.3 to 15.6 second quarters. So they have to say something bad about that 13.1 to 13.4 second car. Then talk smack about how our cars can't handle even though we pull like 1g @ 74ish mph. Lol. Whatever.

I don't care what they say. I still contend they dropped the ball by having it non-turbo. Even though its RWD, I think it needs more performance to seperate itself further from the tC

kenchan 07-10-2012 04:02 PM

i would rather spend the 24K on a new mazdaspeed3. heck, i think i will in a few months before winter.

werd, and no plans for a STI version.

But this has all been gone over before. Here we go again...

The divide since the beginning of auto time... you are either willing to buy Nissan, Subaru, Mazda or you buy Honda, Toyota, mitsubishi. Kenchan. Toyota could make the best car in th world for cheap and I think you wouldn't buy one. Lol.

I don't quite understand the statement that the brz/frs is a better handling/cornering car than the 370z just because it is lighter. From my understanding, one of the main measures of this would be power to weight ratio. The last time i checked, the Z's lb/hp ratio is 9.73 compared to brz/frs's 13.7. In that regard, isn't th brz/frz heavier than the Z? Am i missing something?

Well I read the first page and I agree with you. I can't believe it goes on for 42 pages though! :icon14:

i think this is nice car for the value if it was actually priced at 25-26K. The dealer mark up is BS, people paying 30k for a Brz is not cool. when you start getting close to the 30,000 range that car better at least be faster than a V6 camry...

TheGreatOne 07-10-2012 09:21 PM

I've been pretty silent on most of the BRZ/FR-S discussions as I only knew so much about the car. On a local site, there was SO MUCH discussion on it for about a year as many of the members are driving budget cars like Civic's, Jetta's and the excitement level is high.

It will definitely become a popular car because of the price point, styling and fun factor.

I finally got to see a BRZ and FRS up close at a couple meets....while again, great job by Subaru/Scion...that car would only be an option if my budget was sub 30K however, actually no, I'd go with a Subaru Imprezza instead.

I did not like the look or feel (build quality) I think thats mainly due coming from a Z. At the end of the day on the street...I rarely see a 370Z and I wouldn't blink twice pulling up next to one on the street.

I think most of us also saw the Time Attack video where the Z beats the BRZ while appearing to not drive balls out

Well, I went up against one in the novice class autocross on Sunday. Both are C Stock class in the novice section: Final Results, #6 - Cone-A-Thon - Sun 07-08-2012

In the process of washing some dishes and being yelled at by my wife, I had a epiphany

Someone post this on that other website if what I'm about to say makes as much sense as I THINK it does

So. The BRZ/FRS is what the "Z" was some 30+ years ago

Allow me to explain. Think about it, there was a ton of hype around an affordable, good handling sporty car coming from Asia from Datsun. Same thing is happening here with the BRZ/FRS

At this present place in time, I do feel the Z and BRZ/FRS are not comparable (most agree)

The Z has a Heritage, a large cult like following, the Fanboyism is deserved. Long time events like Z days, Z Nationals attended be people across all demographics, ages etc. Multiple documentaries, a long history in auto racing. It has reached Icon status

If Subaru/Scion stick with this platform, it could very well follow the same path the Z has and get to where the Z is now...having reached 40+ years etc.

So I had to check myself, step back and stop the hate a second. This car is starting off nicely its not in Z territory at the moment, but I think it could really go the same route eventually, time will tell. So at the moment I take it for what it is...something fresh in the market but I can go to sleep at night not worrying about it...for now.
