Engine Cleaning

Any tips? I've never done it before. I've heard you need to put garbage bags around certain parts so they don't get water in them. Which parts would they be?

Is your engine dirty already?

I've always covered the alternator and battery and then just been careful about hosing it down nice and soft.

Not really, I'm just kind of anal about keeping the car clean (I'm in Southern California, so there is tons of dust everywhere) and thought it might be fun to do; yes, you heard that right, I like cleaning the car:eek:... it's a zen thing for me.

Nah..Not necessary. Just use some common sense and don't do any high pressure blasting at sensitive parts. A good citrus cleaner or diluted simple green, a little brushing of the dirty spots then a light rinse.
