Considering getting new wheels...opinions please

So after seeing the idea of making the rims the same color as the 370....I'm obsessed about doing it to my Monterey Blue. One option I found is the following:

http://www.upgrademotoring.com/wheel...c_r_m.blue.jpg

I found them here:

AME Circlar Spec-R wheels from Upgrade Motoring

There is a chart breakdown on cost and all the other goodies. My question is.....does it make the car look "cheap' or could I get away with it? Or save the money and just get the original rims painted blue?

Suggestions....opinions?

Hit the nail on the head right there. Instant way to take the Z from classy to trashy.

The rims in my avatar is what I wanted to put on the Z. Just was unable to fit the right fitment.....

Whoa, that would be like, BAM! In yo face!

Shift 06-19-2009 03:57 PM

It looked good, when I had the clear bra put on. They had new traffic cones in there lot, so I put them around the Z. An yes it was BAM in your face......lol

Don't do it man. You know how sometimes you see elderly people wearing different shades of the same color? Blue shirt with blue shorts and blue socks, for example? Yet they're all slightly different shades. That's what you'd be doing to your Z. You'd make it geriatric-looking.

I also think that's a bit loud. Maybe go with a black wheel with a blue pinstripe if you really want them to match. But the all blue is a bit much.

I think that would look pretty slick. Who is the member here with a yellow Z with black rims w/ yellow lip? He should throw in a picture.

Yeah, killerbee's are great looking! Now, to find a set of wheels with a blue stripe!

frost 06-19-2009 07:54 PM

Just get em painted :D

nogoodname 06-19-2009 08:44 PM

get them powdercoated

Caravanshaka 06-19-2009 10:56 PM

Forgestar does pinstriping for $150 for all 4 wheels on their wheels...black with blue pinstripe would be sweet

nogoodname 06-19-2009 11:03 PM

only piano black, matte black is not available now

I used to have a Harley Davidson V-rod that was racing orange. I had the wheels powder coated racing orange to match the bike. The color match was good for powder coat, but it was a bit too loud.

sensi09 06-20-2009 02:39 PM

I wouldn't get blue either, but if you really want to, then why not. You can always try them out for awhile then powdercoat them black or whatever color if you're not happy with them.

didymus 06-20-2009 07:58 PM

It would definitely be an attention getter, no doubt.

All depends on you man.

Besides, unlike some really f'd up paint job, if you don't like the wheels, just take them off and replace them with the stock rims.

I prefer the sport wheels you already have over any of the wheels in this thread. Just MHO. :tiphat:

Tim 06-22-2009 10:34 PM

if you get a blue wheel, get some real wheels, some that actually costs some money, not any knock offs or cheap sh*t (imo)

370er 06-23-2009 12:10 AM

Your car looks sexy as-is. Be thankful you can get the stock 19s. Here in Australia it's just the 18s.
