iPhone 3.0 Update Breaks "iPod" functionality with the Z

Hello,

Just wanted to inform whomever has an iPhone that if you update to the new 3.0 OS firmware that the next time you connect your iPhone to the peripheral that the Z has in order to listen to music you will get the unpleasant message that the iPhone doesn't recognize the peripheral.

I had that surprise today when I got in my car after updating last night, not sure if the same happens with the iPod Touch but i would think it will as it's the same update.

If anyone has any input on this please chime in.

Thanks

when the Z was designed, 3.0 was not included

the 3G's don't even charge on the G's and Z's

Works fine for me - same as it was pre 3.0. I bought the griffin adaptor to cure the charging issue, I still get the message telling me this was not made to work with the phone, but it charges and I can access my music fine

I might have to buy the adaptor that you have. I take it the adaptor replaces the factory cable that came with the Z?

So basically the adaptor does both charges and acts as the interface cable?

Thanks

It's this one - Griffin Technology: Charge Converter
It just sits between the factory cable and the iPhone

Thank you!

Does the update fix the problem with downloading the phone book?

Lloydy 06-19-2009 04:29 PM

Not sure, haven't tried it yet. Would be nice if it did, but I think the issue was with the Nissan software not working with the iPhone, not the other way round, so an update to the iPhone probably won't make any difference. Happy to be proved wong tho

Issue is not the Nissan software its the iPhone, the iPhone does nto allow you to send contacts via bluetooth.

Is that something they can fix with another update? Or do they refuse to allow that feature?

It's taken them two years to add copy/paste so this whole contact issue through bluetooth could take another two years to solve. Base stereo w/ aux cable for the win.

I've seen in other posts on this forum about iPhone issues, that the iPhone works fine with other head units when transferring contacts via bluetooth

Edit - further research on this and it's only newer Pioneer head units that have this feature.

Didn't work a BMW, Audi or Lexus for me.

Now thats stretching it lol. It took me 20 minutes to enter my contacts into the phone book on the Z. You can also just use an old phone and transfer the contacts that way to your Z.

3GS does allow Bluetooth Transfer of Contacts

Transferred the contacts list from my new 3GS to my BMW this afternoon. Worked fine.
