How do you northern guys do it?

My car has been stuck in the garage for 2 days now with the door handles off being painted. I walk by it longing to go for a drive but can't. Tommorrow after work I am putting her back together and going for a drive. How the hell do you guys go for months without driving your cars in the winter months? Only two days and I am going bat **** crazy!:crying:

I'm often away from my Z for extended periods of time, and every time it gets harder and harder to be without the Z!
I'm moving somewhere with a lot of snow soon, but will be getting rid of my STi (brother is taking it over..), and I assure you, I will be placing studded tires on the Z. Winter won't get in my way of my Z!

Snakes709 07-04-2012 09:40 PM

screw storing the car. Mine was DD all year round. It worked great at -59*C and a crap load of snow :D

KERMIT 07-04-2012 09:47 PM

Winter tires, that is all

having a hot girlfriend helps

TheGreatOne 07-04-2012 09:53 PM

It hurts and it sucks :(

But at the end of the day, you have a big countdown and you appreciate the Z even more when you can finally drive her again. This year she was only in storage for 3.5 months as the weather got great really early....so wasn't bad

how do we do it? ............. we convulse vigorsly , twitching at the very thought of the car being garage bound. .. have a case of Torette's and say random curse words...

followed by a poor attempt to stand, only to collapse into a lawn chair with the head tilted back.. and eyes glazed over......... at the car... buckets and rivers of Drool pooling beneath...

EazyD 07-05-2012 12:08 AM

Winter tires.

Appropriate prescription medication from a health-care professional who understands... my doctor has to park his Aston Martin too :D

blackcherry20 07-05-2012 05:52 AM

Thank you for this thread. My rocket will be garaged this winter.
I am Z junky.
Now that i have admitted it i can plan for the upcoming DT's.

gomer_110 07-05-2012 07:54 AM

I cry myself to sleep every night during the winter. I've even been known to go out and sit in the Z just help with the separation anxiety.

UNKNOWN_370 07-05-2012 08:05 AM

Hahahaaaa... when I had my FD in NY, I garaged it from nov to april. Occasionally pulling it out in the winter every now and again for the occasional romp. I would just buy a lot of shyt for it in the winter and chill all summer.
Besides, I was single in NY and the best way to get the hott ladies is to ride the trains and buses. So I usually occupied my mind with rackin up on numbers n gettin azz all winter. Then roll out pimpin' in the summer with the FD . :) Basically now going out farther with the car in the summer to get more azz. Lol

I miss bein single in nyc. :(

One_Quick_Z 07-05-2012 08:12 AM

Its hard but when you see mustangs or the like in the ditch because they dont drive a winter car it gives me the strength to carry on lol

Usually its November through the end of March for me that I cant drive mine.

I used to have an '07 350Z Roadster that I kept covered in the garage from December through March because of the snowy winters here in CT. I also had a Toyota Matrix that I drove as a daily driver. After 3 years owning the Z, I couldn't justify paying for a car that sat in the garage for 3 months out of the year so I traded it for a MazdaSpeed3 and sold the Matrix. The MS3 is no Z and I craved to have a Z again and kicked myself for getting rid of it. I ended up trading my MS3 for the '09 370Z after having the MS3 for just 4 months. It was the best decision I ever made! I love my 370Z, drive it as my DD, and don't plan on parting with it until the wheels fall off! As far as winter goes, it is a concern because it's an hour drive to work and the winter can get pretty bad in CT but I'll work around it. I'll most likely get snow tires but I figure if the weather is too bad, I'll just take the day off. Bottom line....drive it and enjoy it. Life is too short! Who knows what tomorrow will bring!

Car is back together and back on the road, all is right with the world again. Three days was about all I could handle.:icon17:

IDZRVIT 07-05-2012 06:01 PM

There's more to life than a Z..........for some of us anyway. Mine is stored for 5-6 months/yr. Whatever.

It's a car, I drive it year round. I even keep the stock tires on it when it snows, proper driving technique helps.

valpozguy 07-06-2012 06:03 AM

Have you ever driven a Z with Blizzaks? You're missing out.

Dsevast 07-06-2012 09:48 PM

I usually pick a mod to do for the winter. Last winter I stored my Z without the headlights, then I had the whole winter to finish my blackout and LED mod. Turned out nice and I was able to take my time.
