Nissan 370Z: A LEGOŽ creation by Patrick Chambers

Nissan 370Z:
The 370z is the sixth generation of Nissan's illustrious Z family, first introduced in 1970 as the Datsun 240z. The 370z is a 'front-mid' engine rear-wheel drive two seat coupe sporting a long hood and fastback-style roofline that has been the staple of the Z for the last forty years. Lighter, more powerful, and more aggressive in appearance than its predecessor, the 370z also took a bit of a diet. Weighing in at 90lbs less than the 350, the 370 uses its new 6-speed manual or 7-speed paddle shifter transmission and more powerful 332-horsepower 3.7L V-6 engine to reach 60mph in 4.7sec and a 1/4 mile in 13.3sec @ 105mph. It surpassed its designed performance target, the Porsche Cayman S, by 55-horsepower and even matched the 510-horsepower, 12 cylinder, $270,000 Aston Martin 'Bond Car' DBS in some road tests! Video game fans were able to drive the 370z before its actual release in 'Need for Speed: Undercover' which hit store shelves the day before the car went on sale.

A few weeks ago, my friend Firas Abu-Jaber challenged me to build a car - any car. 'Sure', I said without really giving it much thought. It wasn't until later that I realized what I had gotten myself into. Firas, the Car God of the Lego community, wants me to build a car. As anyone who has glanced at my work can tell you, I'm NOT a car builder so I was more than a little concerned with the task. However, I knew that I couldn't just build a box and throw some wheels on it so I spent a long time looking through possible cars to build. I thought about the Dodge Charger, Scion Fuse concept, and even resurrecting my failed Mustang Cobra KITT. None really sparked my imagination or seemed do-able so I put off the search for a while. Then, purely by accident, I came across the Nissan 370z and for some reason I just new I could build it. Ten hours later I had the first version complete. Over the next few days, Firas coached me on fine tuning some pesky details and was finished after about ten and a half hours of build time. I am pleased to present to you my 2009 Nissan 370z.

Special thanks goes to my great friend Firas for all his help along the way. He edited all the photos you see here.

I think the Nissan Cube would have been more suited to a lego build.

I was going to ask if the round thing between the seat backs is the flux capacitor.
