Lucas fuel treatment worth money?

I felt my Z lost some Horse power compare to when i picked up at the dealershop, so i put Lucas fuel treatment for make myself feel good...
I don't actually know it would work properly or not...
I used about 250ml of Lucas fuel treatment into 65 liters of 94 octane fuel.
I believe it will help my Z to regain that lost HP at the end of result.
Did i waste my money?? I hope not...:eekdance:

Placibo effect maybe?

WHY do you think your Z lost HP? It's a brand new car. I am curious to know how you can even lose HP by normally driving your car! As per owners manual, Nissan DO NOT want you to add any additives in the oil. Once you get an oil change, do not put anything in your oil.

Oh... i didn't know that i must stick 100% to manual... I thought it's not a big deal... that's why i used an additive to my fuel... Will it cause any problem to my engine in the future?
AK... You just freaked me off. :eekdance:

You don't have to stick to 100% to the manual but you must put stuff at your own risk. Will it cause any problem in the future? No one will be able to answer that question other than you. You will find out if it does or does not, in the future ;). I don't think, to my knowledge, anyone have added anything to their oil in our forum.

Wait, was this added to the fuel or to the oil?

:o.. I assumed it was the oil treatment by Lucas. Maybe I should go to sleep since I simply can't read things right. fuel treatment shouldn't be too bad. I would still avoid putting extra stuff in gas or oil.

If you buy quality fuel of the correct octane rating, you don't gain anything by adding a fuel treatment. Today's fuels have all the detergents your engine needs and excessive octane doesn't gain you anything in a stock engine.

There has been some posts that mentioned the 370Z engine had an 96 octane fuel as a design point. I would not use fuel additives but I have mixed 92 and 101 octane (half and half), unleaded of course. There is a difference in the cars performance with a higher octane. I really like running the mix but at $8.45 USD a gallon only every once in a while. When I track the car I'll use the same mix.

Interesting.

Our engines definitely love octane higher than 91. It was easy to fishtail in 2nd while making a turn (stock tires) in my '03 350Z since I wasn't used to the extra power. We don't have any 93 octane fuel in our area now, so I will never be able to unlock the full potential of my 370Z. :-(

cossie1600 06-20-2009 07:27 AM

You can't get 93 in some parts of Kansas because it is way above sea level. As you go higher, air is thinner and therefore requires less octane to burn. That's why your car probably runs at less HP than people at sea level regardless if it is 91 or 93.

Btw I did see it in Topeka, KS. I didn't see it in Selina

It is. You are ok ;)

I would agree with Admin

Many believe that fuel treatments can contaminate the oil. If it breaks up or reduces carbon, gunk and the like from valves and lifters then it could possibly cause some oil to break down as well. Many advocate changing the oil after a couple of tanks of fuel after using fuel treatments.
