The noise was described as a high pitch, electronic sounding whine that is difficult to localize but appears to be coming from the engine bay.

I too frequently hear the noise but fortunately it doesn't bother me as much and has just become a part of the car for me. However, I'd love to hear what's causing it and have it changed if possible.

From the original threads about this, G37 owners claim to hear it as well.

Yes, I agree, I've learn to ignore it, and my exhaust is louder now too, but it a fix is found, I would sure want to do it.

I had a horrible high pitch noise coming from my passenger side. Turned out to just be my passenger screaming as I drifted around corners.

I don't know, you could be at a Z meet, or a track event, or autocross, and one of the guys wants you to demo something in your car ................ but, aside from that.......... bring on the babes :yum:

So are you saying its ok to pay $40k for a car that has a high pitch ringing that makes the owner not want to drive it? Sorry but in the specs sheet I did not see 'custom high pitch sound' and I will fight Nissan on this.

I may have started this thread, if not, another like it. If you raise the hood you will find it appears to come from under the engine cover. When inside the car, the sound emanates from the dash (between you and the engine, duh, lol), makes it hard to totally locate it. As Spearfish states, it goes back to the G37. If you are quiet after you turn off your engine, it will continue for about 3 seconds then die off. I can't hear it when the car is running, so I ignore it now.

John

Sorry but I choose not to ignore it, it gives me and my wife a splitting headache.

Roo 06-20-2009 06:29 PM

Also this is not on every car, I drove 3 on the dealers lot and not one had this sound.

Well all I can say is you must have a louder pitch than the rest of us have, you can't even hear it on my car when the motor is running.

Wow, you guys must have some serious ninja hearing going on, because the only thing i hear is loud music or road noise with the occasional pebble pinging off the inside of the fender hehe :)

(I'm not complaining, if i wanted a quiet ride I would have bought something else)

I tried to listen for it but could not hear it.

Even with the radio on you can hear it, you have to have the radio on loud to mask it. My dad got in the car today for the first time and before we got out of the parking lot he asked 'what is that noise'.

Then you don't have it, this is not a sound you have to listen for. The techs at Nissan hear it as soon as they start to move the car.

I think the sound is coming from inside the engine bay, it sounds like it is emitting from underneath the intake/engine cover.
I had the hood open today and had someone in the car while it was running, when they turned the car off, the sound continued for about 2-3 seconds.
Try it and you'll see what I mean. It's a constant hi-pitched sine wave sound though. I originally thought this was coming from some electrical component behind the dash, now it seams like it is from the engine bay, and I'm just hearing it coming through the dash.

Zcott 06-22-2009 07:09 AM

I don't seem to have it either so there are at least two of us without the problem...

:iagree:

This is exactly what I have as well, and seems to be the same sound all the
G37 owners were complaining about also. You can't really hear it when the car is running and you're driving, so if this is indeed what he is hearing, he has a much louder version than we do.

John
