Got rid of my 370z after 2 months...
Picked up a clean 09 370Z, 8K miles, manual, sport package. However, the tranny/gear whine became unbearable(dealer said it was normal). I could clearly hear it on the street, and when driving through a parking garage, it was borderline embarrassing. Also, the transmission on this car is the most jerky/clunky tranny I've ever driven. The first to second shift is horrible! On the test drive, i didn't think much of the whine, and I thought the clunkiness would get better as I learned the clutch. Not the case, it's the tranny, period!
Picked up a '13 Mustang GT(6M). Shoulda done that in the first place! |

If the sound of a highly engineered, highly mechanical car as the 370Z was not your taste, telling us that you've made a switch is not a surprise.
Also, it should only make a very noticeable whine in first gear. If you had that whine in other gears, might have been a problem. |
Enjoy your new Mustang

Hmm... well if the "trans" is jerky and makes your first to second shift feel bad then maaaaybe it was the operator... just maybe?

Ehh he is right about the whine. Mine does this too pilot bearing noise unbalanced clutch. I did not notice all this on my test drive either and my car was very low miles. I have the killer zero deductable warranty though going to take advantage of that this weekend.

This is why some of us test drive cars before buying, and then actually pay attention during the test drive. lol

On a side note, the clunky transmission is not driver error. I've owned many other manual trannies, and none were like this. |
