Caravan towing

Can I tow a small caravan with my 2012 370z??

KingZee 06-05-2012 10:07 AM

I would not recommend you do. Is it possible? probably.

ShinyBlueZ 06-05-2012 10:13 AM

Ewwwww wtf don't use your 370 as a TOW TRUCK. That's disgusting.

I'm going to rinse my eyes out after reading that. You hurt my soul.

370zproject 06-05-2012 10:39 AM

im going to cut another z in half and use the back half as a trailer >.>:stirthepot:

DjSquall 06-05-2012 10:44 AM

My buddy who lives in Germany right now said that quite a few higher end cars tow small trailers. Personally, I wouldn't do that with my car. Maybe you should be the first? :p

Go ahead. If you do, then you are automatically kicked out of the forum. It is your call.

If you guys live in England, you will realize why it is useful to have the capability to tow. While the car is capable to tow, but I just don't know if it is such a good idea since there are no hitches out there that is strong enough to carry the weight for the long term (I have seen caravaners, they don't pack light either).

Top gear does not approve.

DJ-of-E 06-05-2012 04:15 PM

What's the towing capacity on the Z? It's in the owner's manual.

cossie1600 06-05-2012 04:20 PM

None indicated.

-152 lbs. The little square butthole in the rear bumber is a trailer detect....it reduces engine torque by 40% if a trailer is detected.

People, cut him a little slack.

For nearly ten years I towed a trailer most every work day. I used two different vehicles for the purpose and both did the job quite well. The trailer was a small custom made open bed single axle trailer with storage compartments and drawers below the bed. The loaded weight was around 1,600 pounds. I used it in my property maintenance business. Before the trailer I had used pickup trucks but I got fed up driving trucks so I made the trailer and used a car to pull it. Customers thought it was cool when the repairman showed up in a 99 Camaro SS m6 or a 04 GTO m6.

The Z is not much of a tow vehicle but you should be able to, on occasion, pull a 1,000 pound trailer without too much difficulty. You'll need a custom hitch and an electronic interface for the lights. You'll do best with an automatic transmission (with a transmission cooler and an engine oil cooler) and keep the tongue weight to about 100 pounds.

I removed the butt plug and inserted a black dildo in its place. It hasn't come off since March, works well as an extra bumper.

You've have that sticking out of your rear all the time for months now? That's horrific!

You need a Ford F-150 or something like that.. :driving:

cossie1600 06-05-2012 10:38 PM

It's been on since March as I have to tow my trailer around. The pin is very difficult to get to, so I just leave the hitch piece in there. It works as a bumper guard (was hit once already in NYC). I am not a fan of the foglight anyway, but I will put the buttplug back in when I have LEDs installed on it.

MacLean 06-05-2012 11:41 PM

WOW......... WTF. That is a hell no on my part. Uhhhh....you have a sports car, not an effen truck. Are you on something? I have never seen a sports car pull another vehicle. At the end of the day you have to-do what you have to-do, but I wouldn't do it.

ShinyBlueZ 06-05-2012 11:49 PM

lol I was just picturing him pulling something with his Z.. along with that lame truck-like clattering our gearboxes sometimes tend to make shifting from 1st to 2nd. I had to laugh.

Hedley 06-06-2012 04:14 PM

After contemplating this I am going to sell my impreza P1 and buy a small 4x4. Makes sense - defiantly hit my head yesterday lol

i still prefer the butt light:tup:

kidkotic2001 06-06-2012 07:01 PM

Please have someone check your head ASAP.

Why would you want to do that?

WOW!!!!!

cossie1600 06-06-2012 07:50 PM

Why not?

Lug 06-06-2012 08:32 PM

If one were to obtain a quality Live Axil like the one offered in the Mustang and rip out the POS IRS that we Z owners suffer with, then maybe towing would be a viable option.

26 posts and noone has mentioned that the OM states that the Z is not to be used to tow anything.

Carry on with the amusement.

cossie1600 06-07-2012 10:56 AM
