2nd gear

its seems here lately that when i shift into second and give the Z some gas,,she feels extra sluggish, like almost delayed... any thoughts??

kenchan 05-30-2012 10:13 AM

heat and humidity maybe?

Pauly 05-30-2012 10:22 AM

what rpm are you shifting from first at? or are you referring to downshifting from third?
SRM on or off?

kenchan 05-30-2012 10:24 AM

be funny if he's shifting into 4th.. lol

bigdog1250 05-30-2012 10:25 AM

2nd is the party gear so that should definitely not be the case, unless like stated above you are shifting into it at very low RPM.

If you are in 2nd gear around 3k rpm and it feels slow, then there is definitely an issue.

travnflorida 05-30-2012 10:30 AM

SEMI LOW RPM's, ill look on my way home from work

kenchan 05-30-2012 10:34 AM

the ecu will learn to save gas if you've been driving slow. try applying wider throttle intensionally in 2nd and the ecu will learn after a few times. it might help your case.

ill give that a shot

Humidity sucks the life out of engines... then heat eats their soul... together they murder performance slowly but surely

Cmike2780 05-30-2012 02:16 PM

You could re-set the ECU by disconnecting the battery. Just remember to read up on how to re-set the windows.

Does the traction control light blink?

When you shift from first to second in a turn and the RPMs are too low, the Z will sense the car "slipping" and activate the traction control. The "sluggish" feeling could possibly be the traction control slowing down the spin of your wheels.

You can try shifting at a higher RPM and don't shift in the middle of a turn.

That seems strange. Definitely check it out again and confirm it.

ECU tune with fan control enabled + oil cooler = Problems solved.

kenchan 05-30-2012 04:13 PM

..until fan prematurely dies.

Because humidity and hot air wont still be sucked into the intake anymore?

Why would the fan prematurely die? A common component like that is made to last for the life of the vehicle. Not a chance it'll wear that fast.

No, because heat soak will be less of a problem. And lower engine temps = happier engine.

been covered. peopla have mostly smoothed it out from a combo of modifying driving/shifting style. the transmissions in these cars are notriously notchy
