Just wondering if ther is room for a 10 or 12 inch box :bowrofl: besides putting it in the trunk where it is visible for thieves?

Or put 2 10's where the Bose ones would go
|
Yeah I've heard Bose finally made one that sounds decent this time for the 370z. I've got a Bose in my Maxima, and it sounds like rubbish. Theres a picture on here of the subwoofer in the trunk.
|
Bose would be perfect for that car, depending on your needs, imo.
I do prefer to hear the exhaust sound jeje. |
All you need is (1) JL 10" W7 in a ported box..... mmmmmmm..... Bass!!!!
|
it says the non-touring 370z has 4 speakers..............wonder how that would sound
|
I heard the non Bose tonite. It sounds awful. All the sound comes from the front of you and no speakers behind you.
|
^^^damn...
how does it compare to the stock 350? |
I heard the Bose system tonight and was not all that impressed with it. Did not sound bad but did not sound all that good. I am comparing this to the system in my 06 330i and to me the stock system in the 330i in top notch for a stock stereo.
|
actually I have a 12' rockford P1.. blows away everything, once I pulled up to a crosswalk and an old man walking across with his cane died
|
Headphones FTW!:roflpuke2:
|
I had the 500 watt 10 speaker monsoon system in my TA. I thought it sounded OK for my usual driving, but it lacked bass. Anyone heard both systems and can compare them?
|
i listened to the radio while i was looking at a base and it didnt sound any better then my base 350 did. kind of sucks. just have to replace it

The Bose sound system, in my personal opinion... it wasn't that good enough, didn't have that crispy sound that you are expecting, not to much of fidelity in the sound, I am comparing the sound system of a previous 2007 BMW X3 that I've owned. I wasn't that impress with the Bose system. But it is better than the sound system that I have in my 2007 Base 350z. Again, that is my personal opinion.
|
One thing you guys should realize is that Nissan used a LOT of lighter components. One of the things they did help make the Z lighter was use lighter sound system components and less of them. I'm all for the car being lighter over the sound being better... I highly doubt I'll ever change the stock system out. As long as I get a little base and the sound is good enough to hear clearly on the freeway with the windows down, I'm good.
|
^ that was exactly my concern.
being able to hear on the highway with the windows down....(which i love doing!!!) |
Audio quality in the Z was never really a highlight, but at least we can still change out the HU and speakers. Look at the G37 with its totally integrated setup, and that was pretty much a deal breaker for me since I wanted to do a bit of customizations with the audio system.
Anyhow, a good audio system does not require rear speakers unless it's for movie watching. We just have to work a little harder with the front channels to make it sound good. I want to keep the speaker in the door without resorting to external enclosures. Anyone tried DLS audio? I'm going to experiment with their products. As for the sub, I have it in the stock BOSE sub location in my Z33. For this setup, it'll be in the hatch. The goal is to create a box with the smallest foot print to hold a single 12" sub (eD) facing upwards. Hopefully it doesn't get in the way of the spare tire, but I've not looked at the pictures enough. HU.... Kenwoood DDX812 (no navi). It has 13-band EQ and 5V pre-out. This is going to be fun! |
anybody got any good pics of the bose speakers/subs?

My music of choice is electronica/dance and the Bose system suits my needs! Just my 2 cents.

I haven't gotten a chance to listen to the two systems, but is the base sound system really that bad? It can't be worse than the old Z/G Bose system...can it?
I just don't know if I want to spend the extra money for the touring. |
^ same i would like to konw the difference too.
my old g's bose sounded like crap. and i really don't need anything in the touring package except for the audio... |
For me the auto dimming mirror is a must, and WOW the cargo cover is AWESOME!
Those 2 items should be standard, at least the cargo cover should be standard. Oh yeah the homelink is nice too, I programmed my apt gate code today. So instead of rolling down the window to enter the code or giving a deposit for a huge gate opener, I just push the homelink button. Quote:

^how hard do you think it would be to retrofit a cargo cover on the non-touring model...
does it look simple? |
hmmm I'm not mechanically inclined so I can't answer that. I do know that it can be removed, they show how to do it on the DVD that came with the owner's manual.

As far as how it actually works? Beats me... perhaps some of our audiophiles could chime in. I'm guessing its an upward facing subwoofer with some sort of integrated enclosure inside the spare? |
It's one of those thin profile subwoofers. It's nothing like a Bazooka or Infinity BassLink.
Attached is my concept, but it appears Nissan shaved a few inches from the small area where the strut towers are. In my Z33, I have a pair of 6x9s boxed (supposed to be for a different car, but ended up getting a Z). For the 370Z, the means I probably won't be able to fit a 12" sub facing upward without getting in the way of the spare tire. I'm currently debating fitting a pair of 5.25" or 6.5" coax speakers for surround sound (for DVD head unit). The front speakers will be something nice, and it'll definitely need to be driven with an external amp (100x2 from eD). |
