AEM Intake + Oil Cooler = Conflict ??
Okay so I've purchased an AEM intake... and an Oil Cooler is surely coming soon.
My question is the following: Is there room for the relocated windshield reservoir AND an oil cooler? I don't want to install one only to "mod-block" the oil cooler's location. - Any Thoughts? |
I can't comment if it's going to as I don't own this intake, but if I were planning on getting an oil cooler (Or even if I wasn't) I wouldn't want my washer fluid tank to be located in the front...
|
Oil cooler locations are somewhat flexible... they don't take up that much space in the fascia so you can move it right or left if necessary (unless you are getting one of those 50+ row coolers).
|
haha naw... i'm looking at a 25 row Z1 cooler. Just looks like they use the same location between the crash bar and the radiator. *scratches head

With a prefab kit you will loose some adjustability because the lines will come precut and they might have a specifically designed bracket that only mounts one way.
If you design your own you have more flexibility. |
I did not plan out all my mods either, before install. I needed a special bracket to relocate the oil cooler when the intakes went on. Further delays occured when I but in brake cooling ducts.
It all fit but if I had planned it all out in advance it would have behoved me. |
Well i'm trying to plan ahead... can't get a yes / no answer from anybody.
AEM says: They have no idea if they both can fit. Z1 says: They haven't heard of any issues installing both. So i'm really at a loss here, suggestions welcome! |

I do not know how much bigger, if at all, your parts are vs mine but I feel quite confident by waiting to install these together you will be fine. One of the limiting factors for me was how much extra oil line I had to play with to the O/C already connected. My signiture with mods shows the order as well. Oil cooler first. Note intakes come much later. And cooling ducts were very recent. |

I have a friend that installed the oil cooler and the AEM CAI without any issues.

It shouldn't matter... I am speculating but I am going to say that the AEM washer tank should be going somewhere at the front part of the engine bay so that the owner can access it to fill... the oil cooler goes essentially just behind the front bumper. Also the oil cooler is very low... the washer tank should be much higher based on how it looks on AEM's website (not a long filler neck like with the OEM one).

Bump for any more thoughts on the subject??

take a look at this article and pics, you can then decide on your own pretty easily I would assume.

Install instructions for the z1 cooler: http://upload.z1motorsports.com/Z1%2...2001272012.pdf My 34 row tucked right behind the middle support bracket. |
ok so, looks like the forum doesn't like the links. Look for motoiq 370z aem intake and it will show up

Just for reference everyone...
NO, the AEM CAI and the drivers side Oil cooler are NOT compatible. (without modification) You have to: - Relocate the washer bottle reservoir to Pass side (need new fill hose) - Relocate the horn to drivers side (2 wires involved) But other than that the Oil Cooler and CAI are pretty much compatible. Just wish i would have installed them at the same time to save the relocate hassle. Live and learn. And now you know. |
Oil cooler will get in the way of the AEM and Injen intakes. I took my reservoir off and kept it off.
|
the aem and z1 wont fit without modifications, but it can be made... lol.
|
I can confirm also that these two products DO NOT fit. I already had my Z1 25 row oil cooler installed before installing the AEM intake. The fluid bottle doesn't fit in between the oil cooler and bracket...also doesn't fit on the other side because of the power steering cooler. Till I figure something out, I just left the fluid bottle off, so no more windshield wiper fluid :(

The ingen cai kit come's with a down sized water bottle, and I had no problems w install.
The Nismo has the water bottle under the rt fender, are the sport models different? |
