yes, I am a noobie with a question about the seat belts

Hi Guys,

I just purchased my pearly white 370Z a couple of days ago and I will introduce myself when the wheather gets nicer and I can snap a few pics. Question: I was cleaning my little triangular window and I pushed the seat belt holder "shoulder belt arm (coupe models)" it made a loud click and shifted down. After my initial alarm I pushed it back up and it clicked into place. Most of of us are obsessive; me a little too much. Obviously, I had to click it up and down a few times to make sure I broke it if I wasn't successful already. :) I then took out my led light to see if there was some sort of release button. I didn't find one. I opened up my car manual to page 36 and it states "Before fastening the seat belt, pull the shoulder belt arm forward until it clicks at the detent position. Pulling the arm forward will allow an easy access to the belt" Can anyone explain this? We are meant to click it up and down? What's the purpose? Most importantly is whether it is ok just move the lever up and down at our whim because it does make a scarey harsh locking noise and I find it hard to beleive that there is no wear and tear damge being done while doing this. One must apply force when pushing the lever, unless there is a hidden release lever. Thanks

Hello from far away - you should be able to click it all you want without worry. Even if it broke off, it is just for convenience - it helps place the seatbelt at a more comfortable angle on your shoulder.

Congratulations on your purchase  Best color is pearl white :stirthepot:

thankx

So there is no button. Clicking up and down doesn't do any damage wear?

you're talking about the clicking from the hinge right? if so, no issue. on my G35C it has the same thing, and i click it at least once a day to let my kid in/out from the rear seat. no issue. if it snapped off you're doing it wrong.
