Does this go on in your state check out this article and video.....
Think a 370 could keep up!
U.S. News - NJ state troopers suspended over alleged high-speed escort for luxury sports cars

MacLean 04-24-2012 05:34 PM

WOW...... On hell yes the 370Z could hang with the state troopers plus some more. Man that would have been pretty awesome to see in person. This was a good 10-11 years back I saw a long convoy of Porsche's & it was pretty awesome to see. I think these guys were probably in the Porsche club & I did not see any cops, but they were not driving like a bad out of hell either.

b1adesofcha0s 04-24-2012 05:43 PM

That sounds like fun. I know Brandon Jacobs was in this with his GT-R.

SPOHN 04-24-2012 05:49 PM

This is awesome. So where are these fun cops at?

UNKNOWN_370 04-24-2012 06:03 PM

All I know is back home, when I go visit my cuz in PA. I hate driving thru Jersey.

bigdog1250 04-24-2012 06:03 PM

Those guys filming are annoying as hell! "OMG OMG OMG!!!"

Like the footage though

With pay? I've never understood when that happens.

I seriously had to stop watching after about 2 seconds. You'd think those kids had never seen a car before, the way they were behaving. Sounded like a couple of wounded howler monkeys.

Without pay. But yeah, I've been confused several times when officers are suspended with pay. Sometimes it makes sense, though.

:icon18: that wasnt the intent of post.

MacLean 04-24-2012 06:43 PM

The cops were suspended w/o pay. I believe the kids said they were in an Evo (I think). Those kids were effen annoying & pissed off a lot of those drivers & the other drivers cut them off several times.

Actually something pretty similar use to every year when Mario Andretti would do the Running of the Bulls run up the coast. A line of 50+ Lambos going up the coast is pretty cool to see in person.

Actually the crazy talk of the kids was funny in a way but call me an old fart but I say "save the racing for the race track" Everyone of these clowns ought to get a serious kick in the A**!
Not only racing but racing on a very crowded road. Wouldnt be so funny if some innocent person got seriously hurt..

Mt Tam I am 04-25-2012 12:36 PM

When The Ferrari club runs a charity for a good social cause, it gets a police escort traveling above the speed limit.

God help the person that falls behind the last CHP, because that Ferrari is fair game for the next cop to ticket. And I heard him complain bitterly.

Agreed... as a NJ resident I see how congested the turnpike, parkway and expressway can be on a weekend afternoon (apparantly when this was)... this is blatant disregard for the lives of other motorists... if someone moved into the passing lane unaware that these cars were approaching at 100+ mph they could have caused a massive crash and a lot of casualties... these guys can afford Ferraris, Lambos, and GTRs... they can also afford track time.

ZMan8 04-25-2012 02:08 PM

I had to mute that video as I watched it. Those kids remind me of the guys in civics, wrx, evo, etc. that always rev their engine at me at stop lights... :shakes head:

Honestly though Im pretty sure this happens more often than we know about.

Do they hold unannounced races in the middle of a crowded highway during rush hour?
I hope they find these guys and confiscate their cars....

Thechidz 04-25-2012 05:17 PM

I need to befriend those troopers

I think they said they were in an evo too lol. Anyone who has ever gone on a cruise with a bunch of nice cars knows how annoying it is when someone uninvited tries to join in.

+1....... I believe they did say Evo. That is why they were cut off around 3-4 from the other cars.

akaaronkatz 04-25-2012 10:01 PM

I've seen that red ford GT before getting onto the garden state park way out by red bank

2011 Nismo#91 04-26-2012 09:31 AM

It's not like it rarely done, I've seen them do it for a bunch of bikes on the Turnpike. It is dumb that they have to do it at 100+. I don't trust the cops going that fast here they can't even escort the gov at 90 with out wrecking.

kobnj 04-26-2012 08:29 PM

Those kids were quite annoying in the video and I travel that part of the parkway everyday to and from work.

I'm sure they will have plenty of time to make friends with no jobs.

Strangler 04-26-2012 09:59 PM

Just because they're rich and can afford expensive cars doesn't mean that they own the road. I'm glad those kids were successful in pissing those guys off, especially that girl who flipped them off.

RandyD 04-26-2012 10:16 PM

that actually didnt seem so fast to me... mostly they were slightly above traffic speed... except when they punched it up around those two obvious douche bags...

Doesn't in the video but the report said they were frequently above 100mph. The turnpike exit to the GSP to AC is 70-80 miles so they had plenty of opportunities to break the limit... this was just a short clip.

Educ8r 04-29-2012 02:47 PM

the "high school girls" recording the video made me want to VOMIT

Alchemy 04-29-2012 02:50 PM

This story has been all the rage here in the Garden State. The one cop that got arrested lives about 15 min from me.

RiCharlie 04-29-2012 05:45 PM

What gets me is the defense lawyer trying to make like this was nothing...

NYBladeZ 04-29-2012 05:48 PM

I have a friend who was part of that caravan. The video posted is not the same incident, that vid is from 2010 and from a different car group. The way he described it is that over 90% of the time the group stayed in single file and did not intimidate motorists. Yes, the cops did cause motorists to move over to the slow lane but if you are looking for gross negligence there really isn't any. If you are going to drive that fast on private roads this would be the safest way to do it, I guess those upset over it are unhappy because 1) NJ taxpayers pay for this but don't get the benefit 2) you weren't invited. What's worse 1 car dipping between lanes at 80mph or a caravan, single file with police escorts?
