impressions of the blue Z...

so i FINALLY saw a blue Z in person at a dealership about 20 min away from my place. i was tipped off about its presence by a forum member (thx to olie2832), so i decided to take a drive to check it out in person on my day off...

the first thing i have to say is that the color is much darker in person than it appears in pics. maybe the metallic properties of the paint cause it to photograph lighter than it actually is? in some pics the color seems almost like a powder blue, when in actuality it's much closer to daytona blue than i originally thought. having said that, the color is gorgeous! it really accentuates the Z's lines and curves, and it compliments the body style very nicely. of all the colors, i think blue is the most head-turning.

i ordered my Z in black, and i have no regrets as a blue car isn't really my style, but i have to say that i was very impressed at how well suited the color is to the Z.

to all the blue Z owners: congrats, you have beautiful machines!!

good to know! I will keep the blue in mind. it does seem a little too light for me in pics.

can't go wrong with black, especially if you keep it clean and have a garage! I think black has a longer lasting appeal.

It's an amazing color and I wouldn't have it any other way. Probably the ONLY color that changes hue 4 times a day! :icon17:

Glad you liked it! One thing about the blue I've noticed is that the color varies quite a bit depending on lighting conditions. This pic of my Z in the garage is a good example. The tail end has natural sunlight hitting it, while the front has more artificial light from the garage door opener. Look at the gradient in the coloring.

Then there's this one, which is under fluorescent lighting (and even this one has gradient between body panels):

I love my blue Z. I went to the dealership dead set on black until I saw the blue Z they had in the showroom. I don't know how many times a day I catch people craning their necks to look at the car when I pass.

The gamma looks like it's been adjusted on this pic. Even the parking space lines have a blue tint to them, as do the rims. And the edges around the clouds are a dead giveaway.

The sky was magic wand selected and darkened but the car color wasn't touched. It IS, however an HDR pic with bracketed shots of -2.5 to +2.
