What´s your real life fuel consumption?

Since over here in germany the gas price is extremely high, I´d like to know what your average fuel consumption in real life is. The current price is almost 1.40 Euro for a liter, that is over 7 US-Dollars a Gallon :icon14:.

bluzman 06-08-2009 01:16 PM

300+ miles last week - 80% highway, 20% city: 28 mpg highway, 24 mpg overall

SiXK 06-08-2009 01:18 PM

I am getting about 21 mpg in real driving - city/highway. You can do better by a few mpg if you drive conservative.

AK370Z 06-08-2009 01:32 PM

Anywhere from 19-24 MPG depending on my driving.

TX_370 06-08-2009 01:36 PM

I am averaging 18.3 MPG... thats on local streets in traffic and about 275-300miles a week.

zZSportZz 06-08-2009 01:38 PM

14...only city driving. Yes i have a heavy foot.

I'm getting exactly the same.

Robert_Nash 06-08-2009 02:00 PM

Around town/city driving I get about 18-19; steady-state on the highway I get just under and occasionally just over 26mpg.

I tend to follow the speed limits on surface streets (or perhaps 5mph over) and tend to accelerate at a brisk pace (compared to most people from stops, etc) and I usually travel 10 over on highways/interstates which means 80 or so on most of the interstates I travel. However even with extended runs of 85 or so on interstates I've noticed no significant degradation in MPG.

L3mming01 06-08-2009 03:08 PM

19.5 about half highway half city 400 or so miles a week.

molamann 06-08-2009 03:21 PM

21mpg average here also. About 65% highway and 35% city driving.

wstar 06-08-2009 03:23 PM

I've been running around 16 overall average lately. Much lower in the city, but I've been up as high as 18-19 on the highway :)

m4a1mustang 06-08-2009 03:29 PM

18-19 with my commute to work... mostly stop and go with some short bursts of 45 mph.

Chan Chee Hoe 06-08-2009 06:30 PM

I am using 13L/100km,well my country's traffic is very heavy.

What is this "km/L" business you speak of?

Ok. Let's all be nice as 'globalization' is here to stay:) Just google conversion programs.

I average 21 MPG.

I average 21 MPG.

One man's nice is another man's humor. Or something like that.

wstar 06-08-2009 08:00 PM

I find "L/100km" (Liters per 100 kilometers) to be a pretty unnatural unit of measure, really. Wouldn't it make more sense to just call it cL/km (centi-liters per kilometer) and avoid the extra factor which can't be compounded as a standard SI prefix? Either way the number in question remains the same (e.g. 13 L/100km is equal to 13 cL/km).

37Z 06-08-2009 08:10 PM

average MPG

19.3 average MPH per the Nissan gauge with less than 800 miles on my 370Z.

frost 06-08-2009 08:29 PM

city/freeay = 26mpg

FlashBazbo 06-08-2009 09:06 PM

Like most, it seems, about 21 mpg overall. That's without any thought given to fuel mileage.

CBRich 06-08-2009 11:37 PM

Also around 21 overall and also not trying at all to conserve gas.

tru_Asiatik 06-09-2009 01:29 AM

ive been averaging between 17-19 majority street
one time i had majority freeway and i averaged 21-22
these are after my mods and a slight heavy foot shifting at about 4k

ocfoilist 06-09-2009 02:59 AM

A little over 22 with around a 60/40 split between freeway and city driving. My driving style is relatively reasonable. I've got the 6MT and I try to get it into 6th quickly in general, but do enjoy punching it from time to time....

But then again, I've only got about 4,300 miles on the car. As I remember, my 350 managed about 21-22 mpg for the first few thousand miles, but creeped up to 24 mpg as time went on. I don't think I made any changes to my driving style so I chalk it up to the computer optimization over time.

About 8.5km/L.

MightyBobo 06-09-2009 08:42 AM

I just did 29 MPG on my road trip from Buffalo to here. Overall average aruond the city tends to be 22 I believe.

zZSportZz 06-09-2009 10:42 AM

Just checked this tank of gas....13.8 mpg with an average speed for 20.2 mph. So as you can see, my car has a hard life of stop and go...light to light traffic. I hardly ever hit 4th gear on my commute.

theDreamer 06-09-2009 10:43 AM

I am at around 18-18.5, not sure of the average MPH.

I have a 5 minute commute :)

If I'm not mistaken, this means this user gets roughly 18.0934 miles per gallon.

13L = 13L (0.264172052gal / 1L)
100KM = 100KM (0.621371192mi / 1KM)
62.1371192mi / 3.434236676gal = 18.09342950 mi/gal

Yeah. Don't ask me why I know all of the unit conversions. Too many science classes FTL.

jakoye 06-09-2009 11:47 AM

Sweet. OMGWTFBBQ did the conversion for me. I didn't even have to google it! ;)

I'm actually not anti-metric. I think the US should've switched over a long time ago. It's pretty dumb for us to cling to our antiquated measuring system while the entire REST OF THE WORLD uses a more modern, logical system.

That said, I have no idea what metric measurements "look" like (as in, how much is a 50 meters? I dunno), so kindly wait to make this transition until after I'm dead. Thanks! :tiphat:

molamann 06-09-2009 12:45 PM

The metric system was invented by the devil.

Yea what idiot would want to use a system based on the number 10....

CBRich 06-09-2009 05:13 PM

I personally enjoy dividing by 12, 3, 16, and whatever those other ones are.

Pushing_Tin 06-09-2009 05:25 PM

As a side note, I have found that the onboard computer does an excellent job computing mileage. It has been only .1 different each time I compare the readings.

Solus 06-09-2009 05:31 PM

I average 19.. but i sit in stop and go traffic for about 2 hours every day.. and when i am not in stop and go and in town i drive the thing like i stole it

I hate having the on board computer on the MPG screen. It makes me feel bad every time I see it declining.

.. of course I used to drive a gas sipping Civic, so I should have known what I was getting myself into haha.

PhesojSS 06-12-2009 06:26 PM

Gas milage

To and from work and stop on the way home I get 22 MPG. This is unless some fellow worker tries to insult me by passing me at 100 when I have it on cruise at 72. Kicked it down to 4th and flew by him at 120 then shifted to 5th just to give him an idea of what a Z will actually do up to 130 before going back to cruise mode (proved my point though). On a 1500 mile trip in march I got 26 MPG on the open road at 75 to 80. Very good
