Gas Question
Well I know we need to run premium but here is my question. Well my first choice is Shell 93 Octane, but Sunoco is selling 90 Octane without ethanol, would you give up the Octane to run Sunoco gas without ethanol even though it's only 90? Or would you by the Shell 93 because of the higher Octane?

I would buy the 93 personally.
Hmm, 90, haven't seen that much. I had just crossed the border and saw 93 which I gladly filled up on |
the fuel injectors in my 300zx would love that 90 octane w/o ethanol... they need some of that in california.

For real? Even though the Shell is 93? The 90 will be good for the Z? |
I put 90 in my car this past week. Its running fine.

Low Octane
What I read somewhere is that the electronics that run the engine will compensate for lower-octane gas, so you don't get pinging...BUT over time low-octane gas does damage the engine.
In Kalifornia the best we can get is 91 octane, and it's with special formulation at that, so it pretty much sux. Filling up in Oregon once (on a trip) made a huge difference not only in performance, but better MPG too. |
yah, the ecu does compensate and you dont get the full 2horses beyond 330hp... so i would put that extra 3octane in there to get your run for the money.
you need all 332horses in rush hr traffic for sure. just use premium gas. |
