Mr. GaleForce, I would have also offered you a ride, but I do not think I am allowed to cross the Canadian border.

Wear some Moose antlers... They wouldn't even notice you... Boarder Guards would be like... a moose driving a 370z? yeah, that's normal... Welcome to Canada :bowrofl:

These days, I don't use a desktop much; I use my Android tablet (Asus Transformer Prime) and Android phone (DROID Bionic). Most people don't know it, but all Android devices run on the Linux kernel. That's akin to the engine of a car. The Java runtime then runs on top of that. Heck, my Samsung 55" LED HDTV runs on the Linux kernel. My Xerox printer uses Linux. Linux may not have conquered the desktop, but it's everywhere else, hidden in plain sight. :icon17: It's in a ton of small, medium, and large embedded devices, all the way up to supercomputers! It's in IBM's Watson!

I've been using traditional Linux on my desktop since 1993. All of Google's search engines run atop of Linux. In fact, most of the world's servers run atop of Linux. An OS should be reliable, efficient, and invisible ... like an engine.

yah, my wife made a trial linux system a while ago on a pc we weren't using and it was fast. i suppose if there are more music production software that runs on linux i would consider that for recording and stuff.

btw, a mac question... i need to get a reliable office software. what is recommended? i currently use LibreOffice (freeware) but the otd file sometimes corrupts non-english language. i need to use doc when i send out my projects and i dont want to run parallel on my MBP... i just dont want to deal with microsoft-infestation on my mac. :shakes head:

hahahaha! :rofl2: when i fly back from overseas and need to get in line at immigrations in USA, all i see mostly are non-caucaisans. this little white girl in front of me asked her mom ' i thought this line was for Americans.'
:icon17: hahaha...

and her mom had to explain to her Americans come in all sorts of colors and shades (and shapes). :D

hey there, mr. zman  how are you liking your FI catback? :p

yah, my wife works on pc's and networks as her profession so i hear a lot of good things about pc's and windows, etc. their unreliability rakes in cash for her, so im not complaining. :icon17: hahahaha ;)

haha, yah, i gave him a chance to make it right for himself but failed to notice so added to the ignore list. some folks are just too dumb to notice good things and just whine about all the things that dont need attention. anyway thanks for the reps. :icon17: hahaha.

hello, mr.onzedge. btw, how is your son's arm/hand healing? is he back wrenching yet? :)

He is doing great. He is back to his old self -- getting nervous about the ultrasound coming up next week when they find out about the baby's gender. We were having some fun coming up with proposed names over the weekend. Some that made the short list include: Gale, Alcheng, Alchemy, Ken, Goober, Happy, Z-man and Tecumseh.

Thanks for checking in.

I'm surprised you don't want to name the baby Michael or Michelle.

Or just get straight to the point and name it Michelin. :hello:

Download Pages from the App store, or maybe look at Open Office (free)

The ultrasound(s) is great, but we didn't find out our baby's gender until he was born. My wife said, there are very few true surprises in life any more. That was enough for me to want to wait as well. Now, my mother... It drove her up the wall. :bowrofl:

M4a1mustang has a nice ring to it... Better add it to the hat. :rofl2:

Wish the kids well for us! Exciting times!

Anytime :tiphat: the nice thing is you can download just the Pages app now and not the whole suite. It's reasonable too, $20 and has most/all the function of MS Word without the suckage :icon17: But give open office a try, it may suit your needs... And it free.
