Intelligent key replacement

I just purchased a 2010 Z and unfortunately it came with only one key. The previous owner promised to mail the other key to the dealer but never did. Not a Nissan dealer by the way. They said they would try to contact him again but I'm not holding my breath.
Anyway, I contacted my local Nissan dealer and was quoted $290 for a new key installed. That is even worse than I expected. Does anyone know a reputable aftermarket replacement and how difficult is the programming. I programmed an aftermarket key for my Dad's Toyota with no problems.

Same situation. Nissan dealer I got our used Z from had only one key. $290 sounds a bit high...IIRC it was <150 for parts and 1/2 labor to program. I now have 2 keys. :)

thats about right I had to get 2 keys made lost one and found out the spare was from a maxima. Had to get it towed in and 2 keys ordered and made cost me like 516 with both keys and the spare hard keys in them with the tow. insurance covered 495. Check with your insurance company many now offer key coverage beacuse they are so expensive just tell them you lost it!! i have nationwide. they are on your side!
