I started the stopwatch numerous times the moment you launch the car and shortly after you shifted into 3rd. The result is consistently 5.2 to 5.3 seconds. A .6 disparity between your Racelogic and simply timing the tach and listening to the motor is unusual. I'd say the Racelogic isn't configured well or just not working right, imo.

My method may not be technological, but it seems more consistent.

As far as what you'll gain from mods. K&N filters won't gain you crap. They're just filters. An exhaust you'll feel, but no one can tell you what it'll do to these times - most people measure changes in dynos and 1/4 trackers. But the most important piece of the mod puzzle is the stock cats and an ECU tune which you'll feel the most.

I wouldn't say that filters don't do anything - lots of people have had a few horsepower gains with drop ins. Coupled with silicone post MAF tubes, they're just a few horsepower shy of an aftermarket CAI.

In terms of dropping 0-60 and 1/4 mile times? You won't gain anything there, is what I meant.

K&N's are ON... :happydance:

Actually Octane has NOTHING to do with power,it is just to prevent knocks.

Octane rating has a LOT to do with power output. High octane fuel means you can advance ignition timing to get more power. Aggressive ignition timing + low octane fuel = detonation. Low octane fuel in a en EFI car = retarded ignition timing.

Thank you guys. Feeling the car much more responsive on the pedal with the K&N's, but I can't pull much with the existing tires, new ones should be here till the end of this week so I will do some final timings than.

You get any check engine lights with the test pipes?

my2004Z 04-05-2012 05:26 PM

Here's another point of reference for 0-60 mph and 1/4 mile times for the Z - 2009 Nissan 370Z (Automatic) 0-60 mph 4.5 Quarter Mile 12.9

I'm sure this was under ideal conditions. For the sake of testing you should have a clean baseline with all parameters documented and subsequent tests conducted in the same environment using the same strip of pavement with one upgrade done at a time. :driving:

Yes, with the description "Catalytic system efficiency below threshold" on the lap-top. It shouldn't, since BERK test pipes has extended nuts for the lambda's, but I suppose bad designed.
This happens ONLY if you drive at constant speed for a while on a highway, never on full throttle or on the streets.
