Oil consumption getting better?

I know many have had oil consumption issues. Have they gotten better? I was using about 1/2 quart per 1000 miles (I would add a quart between oil changes). After about 25K miles, it seemed to have gotten better. I'm now about 1/2 quart low at oil change time, and am at 37K miles.

My car has 7000+ miles now. Just before this last oil change I was only a little concerned by the consumption I thought was going on. Since the fall and the last oil change, its required very little.
I will monitor it more through the summer and the faster speeds/use it will receive here in Germany. Seems like what little consumption I had has ceased as well.
I bought the car with only 600miles on it and I continued the break in per the book. Who knows what it went through before.

Mine has gotten much better. It was Normal for the break-in period. Now, I have around 9K miles and there is zero consumption.

'tis wonderful!

I never had this problem.

It's a quart from HI to LO on the dipstick, right? I remember reading that somewhere.

You sure there's no issue with your Z??

I keep a close eye on mines. Last year in Korea, where speeding isn't really enforced I was hauling a$$ whenever the roads were clear. I think the high revving along with the high summer temps contributed to the drop in oil.

I still check the oil at every fill up but now that I'm back in the states and not driving as hard there isn't an issue.

i recommend checking the oil when engine is cold to get an accurate reading. :)

oh wait, i thought no more oil threads???

I must be lucky too with 23000 miles on my ride, oil level does not budge! Exhaust tips are alway nice and clean!
Does anyone know if this intermitant oil consumption problem is being attributed to poor build quality?

LakeShow 03-05-2012 12:43 AM

I forget to check my oil lol. My car will blow up.
