But the Z34 handling is by far leagues better than the 350z. It feels way more neutral. Steering feel is perfect. Its noticeable faster at the needle. And the overall design is an improvement. Both Z's are awesome though and minus initial torque, (which I miss as well) the Z34 is what the Z should be as a progressive design. Maybe they will redesign the cams for 2013 to provide more inital torque??? |
Well that first thread had most posts from when the 370 was being released, EVERYONE seems to always hate when their favourite car gets a makeover, then they love it lol.
I for one wanted a 350 for so long, when I first saw a 370 I was like....yuck. But then it grew on me quickly, realized all the improvements (especially Interior) and that it resembled the 240 and then I was hooked, couldn't stop thinking about a 370. |

I am just used to tons of torque and throttle response from my 71 Z/28 , and the 350Z satisfied that feeling. Felt like it would run with my car. I am sure it would.. The 350Z Enthusiast had way more power than braking, or cornering on certain roads...Tires and Brakes are key.. But I will spend some months getting used to overall driving of the 370Z.. It is still a newbie...6000 miles on the car, but i have 30 miles driving.. Oh I forgot they made a 300zx 2 plus 2 also I think....As desirable as a Toothache.. |
I'm not no of those "I've loved the Z since diapers" guys. And I was at the unveiling of the 350z at the 2001 Tokyo auto show. I didn't like it. I thought it lacked something. Style mainly, it's exterior is plain and it's door handles are look like they belong on a truck. I think of the 350z as a prototype and the 370 as a fully refined sports car. If not for the style of the 370z I would have never considered a Z.
|
My friend owning a 350 and me a 370, I can say both Zs are really great cars in my eyes. I even like the older 300 and 280s a lot of older guys in the CT Z Club have em and they are head turners!

The mustang was fugly!!!: the camaro looked like a studio prop from the 50's classic War of the worlds. The Trans am took the corny out of the look of the camaro and was probably the only cool looking affordable sports car. But only the high end firebirds, the base ones were still fugly... Camaro/firebird was going out the door anyway at the time... the corvette was too expensive and there were no japanese sports cars except the new FWD-Only wacky doo eclipse and the low-powered miata. The Z was debuting at 25k with 287hp and 280hp for the auto. A mustang back then had what 290-300hp with a v8! The Z was hella impressive with both looks and performance... you are definately ENTITLED to your opinion, but I'm just thinking back and wondering... what could have been better than a Z in 2002 lol. The mazda wound up disappointing due to its lack of power but on intro it just looked hot. |
Don't forget. I was in Japan. So I was looking at Gen 3 supras and skyline GTS-T and GT-Rs. Those were well with in my price range. So were used Porsches.

Non-scientific, goofy, first-hand anecdotal observations related to performance-oriented Nissan owners: 300ZX/Z32 and G35 owners dislike or hate on the 350Z, but like, or are impartial to, the 370Z. 350Z owners, and to an extent G37 owners, dislike or hate on the 370Z.

The cars I drive are not a dime a dozen around here.. You see every other cookie cutter Car, camro's Dodge's Escilpe's..but the 2009Black Touring/Sport stands out in the Crowd.. And the Z/28 is as rare as it gets.. You are right, those other cars are not worth the money,IMHO.. But I had a great time in the 350Z....My friends with Muscle cars got handed their hats One's or twice, commenting that the 350Z looked like it was stuck to the ground in corners... Nissan has done a great Job with the car and it's improvements. |
I'll be honest, I'm not a fanboy. Not with electronic devices or cars. I respect the Z lineup but I have no brand/model loyalty because it makes no sense. By using the fanboy logic, even if they make an obviously shitty model, I'm supposed to like it. :icon14:
For this reason, I can say I like the 300zx TT, 2006+ 350Z, and of course the 370z. The 370z being the most refined one, it'll naturally be the best one. :happydance: Tl;dr Haters goin' hate |

Somehow they think they are getting more... all they are really getting is RWD and AWD vs. FWD and RWD,, intelligent cruise control, a few extra motions on their power seats and and extra coat of paint and clear. Its the only thing that distinguishes infiniti from NISSAN. Honestly that's not enough to warrant the prices on most infiniti's. I bought the G for its lineage and heritage but couldn't stay owning one with the kind of NON-ENTHUSIASTS plaguing the Current G forums. The pretentiousness and pseudo-elitism is UNREAL! G forum guess what???? Your still driving a nissan. Get over it. Lol. |
I was/am a member on my350z because I bought an 04' 350z new and loved it and when the time for a new car came I logically (opinion) upgraded to a 370Z because I loved my 350 and found the 370 to encompass things I loved about the 350 plus a nicer interior and improved engine. End of the day as many have said, Haters gonna hate and will always find some reason to do so. The 350 is an amazing machine and a first love of cars for me, but now i love my 370 and only wish I still had the 350 because id like to have them both in my garage instead of just one.

I remember one time a member there mentioned one of the features of his 350... so on and so on and the thread eventually turn into a BMW bashing thread.... :icon14: From time to time I go there to see what's going on but most of the thread won't have any update/new-post for weeks or even months, so why bother?? :ugh2: Honestly, and again, I appreciate this forum, fellows here are more mature and open-minded and we have lots of members here are driving other brands or upgrading to some other brands and we only see 'Congrats' and nice words.   on the370z.com!!! Mr.onzedge, no Haters, only Buyers. LOL :icon18: :icon18: |
I've noticed that myself that 350z drivers have something against 370 drivers. Not just on the forums but even driving on the street and having a 350z driver give me dirty looks on numerous occasions. I respect all cars and especially Z's. I like the 350z, especially the 350z HR, but they don't like us lol. Oh well who cares, I don't care if people like my car or not, I love it.

I'm sure that there has been a redesign of a vehicle that turned out to be a step back for that car and that car manufacturer. At the moment, I can't think of one.
A redesign changes the car and improvements are made. "Subjective" points such as looks have nothing to do with it. There will be people that say that a 240 Z will look better than any other Z. But obviously it isn't a "better" car in terms of performance, numbers, interior etc. etc. The same is true of the 350. You might think it looks better. I might think it looks better. But various improvements to the car have been made and the end result was the 370. When they completely redesign the 370 and call it a "400" or something, it will no doubt be an improvement on the existing 370 platform. That's it. There's not much debating it. If you ask a 350 owner who happens to be a "hater" on the 370 WHY he hates the 370, you'll find that the answers always revolve around "subjective" measures such as esthestics. In other words, it's a moot discussion and proves nothing except to prove what the auto manufacturer already did when they UPGRADED the car. They might argue points of "modifications" which have nothing to do with a stock vs. stock car and hence THAT argument is moot. With enough money and the right mods, I can build a Prius to outperform your 370. Stupid. There's nothing wrong with a 370. There's nothing wrong with a 350. There's nothing wrong with a 240. For someone to "hate" on another car because they don't like the "styling" and come up with a bunch of BS reasons why their car is better in my opinion has a serious security deficit. These are people that I don't bother to waste my time with because the kind of car they drive is the least of thier problems and the least of mine. I'm guessing they are younger anyways and most likely look the part of the villiage idiot. Not people I hang around anyway. So what do I car if they dislike my car? With age comes maturity. With maturity comes a better understanding of what it means to be an "enthusiast". |
I hate the 370z.

The very existence of the 370Z causes the 350Z owners to feel threatened. Rightfully so in my opinion.
