hyundai has come a long way and has been making alot of quality cars. but at the end of the day its still a hyundai and i would never drive one. and the gencoupe is imo too common and ricey compared to the 370z. my .02

Want370z 02-18-2012 07:40 PM

Thank you all! I am leaning more towards the Z. Somebody asked me about a Roadster...the thing is, I do not like it. It does not look as sleek as the regular coupe. Since I am in not in a hurry, I think I will wait a couple of more weeks and see if we see any performance reports of the new Gen Coupe. As of now, I am 70% Z! :)

Another question for you guys! A local dealer has offered me a 2012 base with sport package for $34,821+TTL. Do you think I could do better? Actually, they have offered me three options:

1. 2012 Base - $31,693+TTL
2. 2012 Base w/sport package - $34,821+TTL
3. 2012 Touring - 35,562+TTL

I am leaning more towards the 2nd option. Can I do better? Should I choose a different option?

sfearl1 02-18-2012 08:22 PM

Base + sport

Cyberium 02-18-2012 08:29 PM

Genesis isn't bad... was actually thinking about getting one for the wife. But also keep in mind that Hyundai's drop like a rock in value.

The Nissan 370z will definitely keep it's resale value, if that matters to you.

Edit... and yes, I consider the Genesis a chicks car. Much like the eclipse =)

Face 02-18-2012 08:35 PM

Funny, my older brother considers 2-seaters "chick cars".

FTR I could never own a Hyundai or Kia. I don't care how much they've improved.

Buy a Kia and you can jump over it like Blake Griffin.

Face 02-18-2012 09:18 PM

Yussssss!

cossie1600 02-18-2012 09:38 PM

Isn't that like sticker almost? Gas is over $4/gallon. Tell them to f themselves

Yup, base + sport will make you a happy Z owner! I picked up Sport + Touring and I'm super happy with it!

I bought my 2011 base w/sport package that stickered around the same for 30,904. I think you can do better than that on pricing. Sounds like you are paying sticker? If so get a better price or different dealership. Most likely since it is Feb of 2012 this dealership is less likely to work on a better price. Be prepaired to walk and look around some more.

280z/300zx 02-19-2012 12:17 PM

You can do much better in pricing. Back in 2009 when the 370z was brand spanking new I ordered my touring/sport yellow manual for 34300+TTL. At the end of 2010 when searching for a replacement of my now totaled 370z. I bough my 2010 Nismo for 35500+TTL (they had the car stickered at 45k due to tint, window etching, etc). You need to search around and be patient.

Z-WHIZ 02-19-2012 02:30 PM

Depending on your price range, just go with a CPO e92 M3.

Urbanracer 02-19-2012 05:24 PM

It doesn't seem like much of a dilemma to me, the Z is engineered to a much higher level with decades of refinement. Seems like an easy choice to me.

gr8-wrx 02-19-2012 05:29 PM

If you get the Hyundai, rebadge with Genesis badges for sure...

Got my sport/touring for 36,000 thin u are not getting anything less than sticker with them. Look for some flaws on the car "inspection sticker" if it dates back a long time its been sitting on the lot a while and u can talk them down a lot.

As long as you don't live in Tx,La,Ok,NM,Tn you can get good deals easily. In these states you need to fight, hustle, talk to 5 different dealerships and make them fight for your sale. 3 will reject you cuz they will think that they can get the next sucker... and the last 2 remaining will make it a murderous process and stress you out till you finally come to terms on a fairly good deal. The rest of the country gives Z's away. Lol.

lol1234 02-19-2012 08:50 PM

genesis suk, u buy nisan ok

AWX Z34 02-19-2012 09:16 PM

Now you've got our opinion ... Go to the Genesis forum and ask them their take on the comparison. :P

Z FTW!

Why would you pay more in those states? Just curious as I live in TN.

sfearl1 02-19-2012 11:13 PM

i drove to TN to trade for my Z.

They low stock on Z's on purpose to make you order one from the factory and upsell the fact that they are going out of there way. Also, the low stock is there to make you think they are low on models cuz of high Z demand and make you pay more. Nissan Z's are a hard buy down here. Most of us that bought new down here have complicated purchase stories.

Well we can add Kansas City, KS & MO to the list of hard to getting good deal locally. I tried for 2.5 weeks and just walked away. I finally gave up and bought my car in Chicago area. To be exact Lagrange, IL. An hour and ten minute flight one way and signed papers and drove home. :tiphat:

AhadV 02-20-2012 10:31 AM

I got my Z last week and test drove the genesis and 370 back to back. Obviously the choice is yours BUT I will tell you this... the transmission of the gensis feels like ****. It doesn't deserve to be rated a sports car the clutch has to be fully engaged or disengaged before shifting gears the comfort of the car is absolute **** and more importantly hyundai is new to this "field of work." Nissan is experienced. Nissan came out with a car that is put up against a bugatti veyron. Nissan created SRM. Nissan KNOWS what they are doing and has a line and history of reliable sports cars which most all consumers have been more than happy with. Once again, the choice is yours, but I don't think you would've posted on this forum if you already weren't leaning towards a car :)

so :iagree:

Disagree. 370Z's litter the dealership lots, except none like the one I want (loaded).

How is a 2 door coupe with a turbocharged engine, typical sports car silhouette, sports oriented suspension, and aggressive styling NOT a sports car?

OP: Test drive both. Go over the interiors carefully. That's the only area that I tihnk Hyundai NEEDS to improve on the Genesis. Sure there's some things that could be better about the Genesis (and the 370Z), but the Genesis interior NEEDS some help.

i recall you saying you had found one and ordered it in another thread... am i mistaken?

bigdog1250 02-20-2012 01:35 PM

The 2013 Geneis coupe got ugly, I much preferred the looks of the previous generation. The Z is a more refined car and is truly something special.

Trust me - even if the Hyundai was faster somehow (which it won't be) you'd still enjoy the Z more. Every time I walk up to my car I smile :) That is hard to put a price on.

it did get ugly.. idk why the car looks like its smiling. The Z looks aggressive, kinda pissed off if you ask me. That's what a sports car is supposed to look like. You don't want to win a race and be smiling, you want to win and then be like "who wants some more"

idk.. Z for the win.. always.

I think the 2013 Z doesnt look that agressive anymore, the removal of the fangs especially made a big difference.

JZNx 02-20-2012 02:00 PM

Lol ur asking whether to get a z on a z community?! Lol we are all here because we like zsss. Lol go ask what ppl from hyundai community says as well. Weigh the 2 sites and u should know which car is ur type.
