Front Windshield crack

Got a huge front windshield crack today, it looks terrible it starts from the top of the passenger side and moves to about halfway to the driver side.

I Need to get it replaced both of the Nissan dealers here do not have a glass repair tech. They recommended Safelite. Has anyone gotten their front windshield replaced by them? If you have let me know how good they did I am worried that they do not know how to replace my Z front windshield. I know that there is some clips on the A pillars that might break.

Hey Kid, sorry about your windshield.

I have used Safelite 3 times now, twice in NY state for my '89 Bronco II, and once about 5 years ago here in San Diego on my '04 Altima. They were very good in each case. And they're fast, always have a good supply of various windshields on hand or in the area nearby, and do good work. I found their price to be lower than expected (and NY mandates glass coverage in the comprehensive, no deductable, so I paid NOTHING for the NY repairs.

I had all three repairs done at a facility of theirs rather than on-site, and had no appointment in any of these repairs.

I think you should feel OK with Safelite doing the work. Just keep in mind that every facility is different, with technicians of different experience levels and attitudes, so you may get a clunker, but if so, they will make it right for you. The only little things I had to nit-pick over were on the Altima: some of the broken glass shards were missed by the vaccuum, and little dab of the black sealing compound remained on the rubber seal surrounding the windshield, and I kind of smeared it on the roof a little because I didn't see it.

Let us know how it went for you if you let Safelite do the job.

Well in Texas Allstate insurance does not cover your front windshield for free you have to pay the deductible. So I am just going to pay out of pocket its only 268.00 and they will be going to my home.
I will let you know how it comes out.

The only complaints are sloppiness sometimes... check the seal to make sure it is laid out right and that there is no excess epoxy... otherwise these guys do this all the time so it shouldn't really be an issue. They can even transfer your inspection sticker to the new glass without problem.

Safelite replaced mine about 7 months ago. I watched the guy do it in my office parking lot and it came out fine. No issues whatsoever. Had my frontier for 11 years and the original windshield is fine. Just my luck the Z's got cracked right after I waxed it one day.

Sucks to hear. I got a small crack/chip on my windshield about 2 months ago also. Luckily State Farm covered the $50 fee for Safelite to repair the chip with their resin.

Just replaced my windshield from a truck kicking up a rock on the freeway as well. Talked to a couple local specialist and the lowest quote I got was $220. He said he worked on a few before and the only trouble he had was what you noted, the plastic trim on the pillar from the hood to the roof cracks very easily to make sure they take extra precautions around there.

Sorry to hear buddy but the Z windshield crack easier due to the angle of the windshield. Hope all goes well!

Damn that sucks. Safelite usually does a good job on replacements.

I've dealt with them two times while i have had my 370z, once in san antonio and another in mcallen. Both visits went great and have not have any issues, i would go back to them again without thinking twice about it.

Just replaced my windshield through Safelite (Florida has $0 deductible for windshield replacements). Unfortunately the guy managed to scrap of a portion of my paint along my roof line when he was removing the old adhesive with a chisel. So now I need to deal with that too. I'm pretty sure Safelite is a franchise, so experiences can vary wildly.
