Mild changes for 370Z question

Anyone have a pic of a magnetic black Z with darker gray 40th anniversary factory wheels they can post? Also, I was considering finding a factory Nizmo exhaust to replace my standard exhaust. Does that exhaust mount the same or is an additional mount bracket required? I thought a read something about that somewhere.

I want to maintain a somewhat stock look and a mild increase in HP. Was wanting to get my car up to 350hp range of the factory spec on the Nizmo. Thanks all. :tiphat:

the Nismo exhaust is only worth about 7hp over stock and in my opinion not worth the money you are going to pay for buying a used one with shipping. I know you want a stock look but there are plenty of aftermarket choices that will give you 15hp over stock while not looking outrageous under your car.

Cue Fast Intentions support in lieu of Nismo Stock CBE.

So you're saying you want to take a Non-Nismo Z and give it the power of a Nismo? Am I reading that part right OP?

ZInferno0248 02-03-2012 02:39 PM

The Nismo exhaust does sound nice and the tips look cool. It fits on the Non-Nismo Z's well. It has a nice mellow sound without being obnoxiously loud.

If you want to go this route... I would be willing to sell mine cheaper than any aftermarket pipes (from a 2010 Nismo with only 5000 miles on the exhaust) Kansas isn't that far from Wisconsin either (as far as shipping is concerned). PM me if interested.

Thanks for the reply and input. I knew the H exhaust would only give the 7hp. I had also read their is one additional bracket connection difference from standard exhaust. I was also thinking about a possible ECU swap if that was possible. For that 16, 18hp I am not sure the overall cost would be worth it those changes. I still think the dark gray 40th anniversary wheels might look clean with the magnetic black paint.

I mean this Z is just a summer non daily driver with very mininal drive miles. I bought the car in April 15, 2011 and it has about 1100 miles on it right now. I don't know I was just wanting a couple mild factory changes. Hping to see the a car with those dark gray wheels.

Honestly, if you're barely driving it an ECU swap is waaaaaaaaay more expensive than you need to go. Just look at getting a set of K&N Drop In Filters, a set of Z1 Post MAF Tubes, and a CBE. That will put you in the same arena as a Nismo, still looking stock, and if you'd like, get it tuned as well. All of this will cost you less than an ECU swap. Unless you meant ECU swap = Tune? :ugh2:

Thanks again for the replies guys. I really don't want to mod the car with aftermarket stuff at this point. The car has an factory gold extended warranty through the Santa Rosa dealership. I really don't want to piss around with voiding warranty issues etc. I guess I am not even sure at this point a nizmo ECU would void the cars factory warranty. I would think it shouldn't be an issue if done correctly.

Surely someone has put a set of the 40th anniversary wheels on a magnetic black car? anyone? Thanks guys for thoughts and options.

you could get the Nismo S-Tune exhaust and some Hi Flow Cats, that will give you atleast 15-20 HP.

Cafiax 02-03-2012 03:33 PM

There are no warranty issues with aftermarket cbes. The most the dealership will do is not touch it and tell you to go to where you installed it for exhaust issues like a leaking gasket

The extra hp bump with the Nismo doesn't translate much in real world performace. So I would skip the ECU altogether if all you really want is the sound. An UpRev tune might get you there, but don't forget that the 350hp number is at the crank, not at the wheels. You would do better to go with something like Stillen cat-back exhaust, which looks pretty stock if you didn't know better. Stillen quotes something like 18hp gain at the wheels, so that's well over the 350 mark at the crank. No exhaust upgrade will void your warranty for the rest of your car, just the oem exhaust. You can even ask the dealer to install it for you. Most don't care or even notice.

If you're just chasing numbers on paper to get to 350hp, I would suggest just saving your money.

im going to sale my nismo S tune exhaust soon. Just waiting on the Password:JDM exhaust and taxes. The Nismo S tune would work better i would think.

Yeah, they're not great (car was dirty when I took 'em, so I had to play with contrast), but I could take some mo' later.
