It's the tire roar. It's bad enough when you're driving on asphalt, but the grooved concrete of freeways in Southern California really makes this car a penalty box on any kind of real trip. And it's not the tires themselves; it's the lack of acoustic refinement from the car. It makes the 370Z seem like a cross between a dump truck and a National Guard Humvee. As near as I can remember it, the 350Z was a whisper-quiet limousine in comparison.
curious to know what their tolerance for noise is. but regardless, is tire roar something you can help by getting a different set of tires? i know i've read threads before about spraying liners and what-not, but they don't see too effective.

The road surface is a huge factor, you can hear it when you transition from a smooth piece to a coarse piece of pavement. I can only imagine that grooved concrete is even worse.

Tire roar is definitely loud compared to my 350Z, it drowns out the music most of the time. I heard part of the issue is with the Potenza tires that came with it. Overall, not a deal breaker.

Not a big deal for me... until I try to talk on my phone via bluetooth that is.

It's much better than my old MR2 with DOT R-Compounds :).

It seems really easy to me - if you want to add weight or drop performance to reduce noise, you can add dynamat and/or change tires. I'm glad Nissan didn't make that choice for me.

Want quiet? They make just the car for that. It's called the G37.
