Yeah, I had that same thought when I got in my car this morning...I do have that reinforced piece below my feet too. And it works pretty darned good!

There are two different mats available from Nissan:

Standard mats:

A lot of you guys aren't being all that understanding considering the myriad issues I'm having with the car. I would understand if this car had 60K miles, but it's barely over 13K. Do you guys expect brand new cars to start showing signs of age in 13,000 miles? The thing still has new car smell for heaven's sake. I bet if your cars had starting doing this stuff with so few miles you wouldn't be happy either. I don't see how anyone can say that these issues are "normal wear and tear." Even floor mats should last longer than this. You guys act like I've never owned a car before or never took good care of a car. I sold my seven-year-old Matrix for $750 over Blue Book in two days because it still looked brand new inside and out. Who is going to buy a car like a Z and not take care of it? Keep in mind it's probably rained in LA 20 times TOTAL the entire time I've owned the car. And the car is always parked in a garage away from the sun.

Anomoly thanks for the leather care recommendation. I'll try it, but the Meguiars I use right now was recommended to me over a year ago by someone on this forum and it's not getting the job done. Their products are usually quality. At least someone tried to actually help instead of just ragging on me. Some folks remind me of video game fanboys who refuse to admit there's ever something wrong with their favorite whatever.

Do any of you have the clicking seatbelt assembly issue? It's the piece right by your head that the seat belt threads through. If I move even the slightest bit it clicks. Wasn't like that when I bought it and it's crazy annoying.

That only happens when I get out of the car...usually in my old parking spot (because I was against a wall) I had to aggressively jump out on an angle lol, tilting it up. But never when driving.

That would be annoying if it happened every time.

My Z has 28,000 km now...so even if converted to miles, thats still more than you...perhaps yours is broken?

Those premium ones look much thicker but no skid pad like the standard mats

I made the mistake of putting Meguire's interior shine on the skid pad...almost crashed lol...bad idea...made it an ice rink for my heel :rofl2:

Regarding the floor mats, I'm on my second set in my '09 and I only have a little over 17000 miles. My second set is now doing the same as my first set - the grommets are tearing out (which makes the mat start shredding). The floor mats are covered under warranty - go get a new set from your dealer.

The clicking is caused by your shoulder moving the adjustable seat belt channel - it's normal. If there really is something wrong with it, it should be covered under warranty.

EDIT: I just noticed in your OP that your warranty just ran out... If anyone else is having these two problems, get to your dealer before your warranty expires.

Regarding the drivability issues, I'm guessing your car is a 2009 model?

13K on a 3 year old car means *MANY* short trips. In fact, you said it yourself, you work a mile from work.


This means several things,

1) your oil never gets a chance to warm up fully
1a) in fact, nothing in the car gets a chance to fully warm up
2) It wouldn't surprise me if you have considerable carbon build on on both the throttle body, injectors, and possibly even in the heads

I'd start by having those things serviced. A good long trip down the highway with the engine revving wouldn't hurt things either.

I'd classify your use as severe duty.

How many oil changes in the 13K miles?

Meguiars is good but doesnt hold a candle to the Leatherique, try it out bud! I actually bought some white lithium grease spray and lubed up the insides of the seatbelt assembly because mine clicked too, havent heard a peep since. Just be careful not to spray it all over the place!

Nah, I specifically wanted cloth seats. Its a sports car. I already have leather in my G.

The unused fob still uses the battery - if you haven't tested it, replacing it is the best test.

As for the hesitation, mine hesitates every morning in my neighorhood at a right hand corner - I'm pretty sure there's a programming issue (search for other threads), but I'm not holding my breath for Nissan to fix it. (PS No, it isn't VDC - turning it off doesn't change anything.) I'm just glad it happens rarely, and all the technology is why I got an extended warranty.

Oh, and if it isn't a daily driver 13k miles means the leather shouldn't be wearing in my mind either.

actually a cayman s costs a lot more money, not a little bit. and you really really really don't wanna talk about porsche reliability. i was considering a used cayman s as a replacement for my totalled Z. Needless to say, I'm considering other things now. Just google porsche engine failure, or cayman powersteering overheat.

As for your problems, like others said, floor mats are just a cheap rag. Just replace it. Big deal. Key fob batteries die all the time. Another very cheap and easy fix. The fuel gauge thing is annoying, but common in all nissans. Nissan can't make a decent fuel level sending unit if their life depended on it. Just have the senders replace by the dealer. Even though the warranty just expired, they may do it out of courtesy. The seatbelt click thing I don't get. Explain a bit. As for the bogging down, do you downshift? The engine doesn't produce much torque below 3000 rpm so if you're in a higher gear it's normal to be slow to accelerate.
