Which package combo has the 3 air controls under the radio?

I really like the look of the 3 metallic circular controls for the air conditioning but I've noticed some 370z's don't have them.

They look so nice but I'm confused as to is it an option or touring version only or what?

Thanks

RoshDawg 01-24-2012 03:22 PM

Yes it is a touring option.
Touring gives you Bose sound system, leather/heated seats, suede inserts

Then it's the NON-touring editions... not sure what that guy is talking about.

my 09 Touring has them

I believe those controls are on all 370Zs (Base AND Touring) except those equipped with factory navigation, in which case they look like this:

Thanks Everyone! So it just depends if I get Nav.
I'm willing to sacrifice the Nav just for those, they look so damn good.

Nope. I have Touring/Sport and no navigation. 3 large rotary knobs for HVAC. Left is fan control, center is temp, right is vent, defrost, feet, rear defog, etc controls.

:iagree: same with mine

TheGreatOne 01-24-2012 06:33 PM

I know some people don't like stock NAV but I think the Z unit is really good, not to mention all the other options u can control through it: USB key, Ipod, Engine dynamics, maintenance etc so I'm a fan of my NAV

So I like the small knobs lol

Right -- I have no navigation.

When I first saw the non navigation control panel, I felt the same way.
However, after some time with my 370Z, I now want the navigation option. I'm thinking of trading mines in for a new 370Z with navigation.

:iagree: Base + Sport here

Now I'm a little confused... Is everyone in agreement that the NON-nav units come with the three large knobs and the NAV units come with the two smaller knobs like the picture I posted?

Correct. Unless of course you have a hardwired aftermarket nav in the cubby like me ;)

Nav AND 3 fun buttons!

The Touring Package gives you the three knobs -- with or without Nav.

I don't think this is right... I think Base and Touring have the three large knobs. Touring/Nav has the two small knobs. The difference between Base and Touring is the stereo. Base has the double-din cutout and Touring (without nav) has the more built-in looking Bose system.

:iagree:

Cause my 40th has Nav and is considered Touring.

I stand corrected -the Bose drives the knob type then, right?

GaleForce 01-24-2012 07:53 PM

Mine is Touring/Sport with Bose, without Nav, and has the 3 HVAC buttons. Like the second picture that Vince posted.

Right, just like my middle picture. Basically, no nav=three big knobs, nav=two small knobs.

When the Z first came out. My salesguy threw me the keys to a fully loaded 370z, monterey blue/frost with NAV. I had the car for a little over an hour, drove about 30 miles and had a chance to play with the nav. The music features were impressive. But being that the Z is a 2 seat sports car with a minimalist trunk NAV makes little sense. Also I found the Bose stereo to be extremely sub-standard in both touring and NAV guise. Upgrading the speakers and amps is completely difficult in the upper models not to mention extremely pricey.
When I made my decision to go base+sport it was because I figured that I can put a higher quality sound system for the same cost or slighly higher than nav if I do a self install. Power seats in a non-reclining 2 seat sports car??? Pointless and adds a weight deficit. Leather? Well I can either customize mine or go with a beautiful high end recaro seat pkg for less than the cost of the touring. Though I can say this much. The best part about the touring is seat quality. Imho its not nice enough to go up 7k for touring and nav. when 7k in custom sound and seating will look higher end and purely original. OEM did a great job, just the feature to price to me is questionable. Besides, sports cars are a pallette for personal expression. The NAV and factory features fair better in family sedan-like daily drivers. Not enthusiast sports cars.

If the Z is just a novelty? I say load it up and get the NAV. But if you want to mod and make it completely original from top to bottom. Or if you really love music and are a true audiophile? Get the base or base+sport if you find the sport pkg worthy such as I.

Disclaimer... I do not endorse this statement as a means to sway from or put down the touring. Just a series of observations that range from personal taste. If you fit a certain personality type this advice is good. If you don't? This advice sucks. Its all personal preference and comments are more useful for future shoppers. NOT current owners.

TheGreatOne 01-25-2012 11:09 AM

^^^

I have to agree with most of that, although I like the cleanliness of the OEM NAV, not to mention its on a 40th and I find the interior spectacular as is, so doing very little there except adding some CF lol.

Surprised so many people hate the Bose but even I have to admit, at times I felt the Boston Acoustics I had in my Lancer sounded way better lol. But I'm stuick with it..the cost to change it out is crazy

i cannot completely disagree with you that the nav units definately might come with said buttons. the possiblity that non nav units may have the buttons not installed is not entirely unlikely.... however buttons do appear on z models stated before and my not be available with other models containing no nav interiors :icon17:

are we all clear?? lol

Off topic, but thanks for posting this picture. This is what I was wanting to have done in CF, but couldn't find an example.
