Help! Stillen G3 error!!

As i've stated above, i had already installed the G3 and the installation went perfectly..untill i drove off my installer's shop. The CEL, VDC and Slip lights up and i cant rev past 2.5k!! Further more the car keep on shutting down itself and i have to rev it to keep it running..any idea what happened? Let me know. Thanks

Probably is better to post this in the Tech Area. GL

Sounds like limp mode. Was the G3's the only thing you had done or the only thing touched by anyone. Make sure the MAF's are clean and then disconnect the battery for 10 minutes to reset the SES.

xdeslitx 01-23-2012 02:26 PM

sounds like what happened to me with my Injens. was it raining?

He has the Stillen Gen 3's so I wouldn't think rain would of been a factor.

LMBmikeZ 01-23-2012 02:41 PM

That would be my guess to. Try looking at the MAFs they might even be lose/disconnected.

just because he has G3s doesn't mean he would be immune to the problems that rain could cause

ClemsonWill 01-23-2012 03:18 PM

make sure all the cuplings are secure and sealed. After I put my G3s on, one of them slipped off the throttle body. I was having similar issues. Everything looked fine from the top but when I reached underneath I could tell it popped off. Easy fix and everything has been fine since.

There's always a possibility. But doubtful. I've driven in the worst of rain staright to the shop just to take my bumper off and not a drop in the area of the filters.

This! I've had that happen once. Those couplings can be tricky believe it or not. It's real fun when your boosting and it happens. I'll never forget that day.

Unique_Z 01-23-2012 04:16 PM

Thanks for the replies everyone! But unfortunately none of these works for me. I've tried disconnecting the battery for an hour. Re-tighting the couplings and wipe clean the sensors..maybe its the AF ratio? Bcz it suddenly dies after a couple of seconds idling..

Unique_Z 01-23-2012 04:23 PM

And yeah i forgot to add, it was not raining at that time in fact it's actually a hot mid day..

370Ztune 01-23-2012 04:23 PM

MAF sensors are in backwards, plugs going to MAFs are loose or swapped (left to right, right to left).

You might also have a bad vacuum leak - loose coupler, filter etc.

SPOHN 01-23-2012 04:26 PM

Mmmmm. What did you wipe the MAF with exactly? Guess it's time for the scanner? Did you do the install?

I've triple checked the MAF sensors and and tried putting it backwards and they didnt align at all so that prolly not the case. And they are certainly not loose either..i wiped it with microfiber towel and no i did not. One of the installer of the most reputable shop in my country installed it for me..

Guard Dad 01-23-2012 06:34 PM

This is usually a brainless install. Vacuum leaks and damaged MAFs are the usual problems. The MAFs are super delicate, I'd start there.

Ron 01-23-2012 06:44 PM

I say bad MAFs. Maybe they dropped one/them?

SPOHN 01-23-2012 06:50 PM

Everytime I take mine out I act like a surgeon. I place them in a plastic bag seal that up then wrap a towel around them for cushion and pin then back clear of all work.

Ron 01-23-2012 06:51 PM

I do the same lol. They are expensive!

BigT 01-23-2012 08:54 PM

Swap mafs.

Mt Tam I am 01-25-2012 05:52 PM

10 months after G3 install I had my mafs replaced, as Service engine soon light was on. I am not making a connection but it happened.

Unique_Z 01-25-2012 07:46 PM

Thanks for the replies everyone and sorry for the delay of response. I'll just called my mechanics to diagnose the car since i've done all of the above. So i'll update soon.

I meant to point that out also. But yea I wouldn't wipe with anything of such nature. Repped

Unique_Z 01-27-2012 08:27 PM

Thanks again to everyone that helped me with the solution. I told my mechanic about those solutions and he tried them all and surprisingly its just the sensors that was dirty..he blowed it off and cleaned ut with MAF cleaner and all went well. I've also installed invidia cbe and the car feels more powerful!

SPOHN 01-27-2012 08:35 PM

Cool Iwan72, good to know it was something so minor!:driving:

Doug&Michelle 01-28-2012 09:48 AM

Great news man. I just did my G3 and I didn't know the sensors were so delicate. I must have gotten lucky because I just let them dangle or I placed them on the engine. I wasn't careful at all and (so far) my Z is running perfect.

When cleaning the MAF sensors, do you spray both sides of the sensor (plastic side and metallic side)?

Ive been getting a sporadic SES P300 code ever since it rained heavily a few days ago.

From what i saw my mechanic's done is that he sprayed only on the metal side. But thats after he blowed off the sensonrs using air blower.

Wow! I bet you preform without a net too!

Man I got this code p300 again the day after it rained with the G3 intakes. Weird!
