Unfortunately, however, this also means we can no longer be friends as I think it's extremely unfair that my local dealer (not the place where I bought the car) is the edifical (not a real word beeteedubs) embodiment of Judas Iscariot mixed with Kesha - and I'm pretty sure when my steering lock goes, they'll probably just tape a bag of tootsie rolls onto my steering wheel, claim that it's fixed, and charge me my first born for the so-called repair. |

If the 2012's don't have them then I don't want one either. We need a bypass.

I have already been through this. When my under-warranty 370Z was towed into Reed Nissan, probably the worst dealership I have ever dealt with, they told me it would take a week to look at it because I had no appointment.
That's right, car behind me on a flatbed and they get irritated because I didn't schedule the complete failure of the car. I went home, called Nissans consumer affairs. They acted appalled and I believe they were, a regional manager contacted Reed Nissan and the car was looked at immediately. Took two days to get the part though. I had hoped to keep this car for a while, but can't imagine the nightmare of dealing with this intelligent key garbage for 10-12 years. Killing and re-cranking your car miles from home, like at a gas station or rest stop, shouldn't make your stomach turn with dread. I'd pay $1000 or more for a product that bypasses all of this crap and allows me to crank my car with a normal key. Anything that would get rid of this worthless "intelligent" system for good. |

i was thinking the dealer could give you a loner while they diagnose the repeat problem. most folks dont get second/third chances with the steering lock failing. im not saying you did anything wrong as this shouldn't happen in the first place and this all sucks. |
Mine died last Thursday, took the tech most of Friday to diagnose. Replacement part was ordered "overnight" on Friday... and yesterday morning the SA told me the part was backordered and that the ETA is a month. UGH! Contacted Nissan and asked why a recall or at least a TSB hasn't been issued yet (and ragged on them for not having more replacements in the pipeline) - no response yet.
