Persimmon vs Black
Hi all,
About to purchase a Z and cannot decide between the Persimmon or black interior (on Platinum Graphite). I am not sure what anyone here can do to help, but I guess I am interested in some opinions. I like the Persimmon but am afraid that it will hurt the resale value. I can't decide if the general public would like it or not. Before everyone says, "it doesn't matter what other people like, it's your car"...I have to admit that I go through cars pretty quick (am selling an 08 M3 after 4 months) so buying low and selling high is part of my agenda. More to the point, didn't the 350 come with a similar orange interior? If so, is this a sought after color or one that you can't give away on the used market? thanks in advance matt |
I've had a Yellow with black interior and now have a blue with persimmon interior. In my opinion, I like the persimmon best. I felt a little trapped inside the Z that had the black interior. But, again, that's just my feeling. Have you actually sat inside either color yet?

I have sat in both.....I do like the persimmon....if I knew i would have it for 10 years it wouldn't be a choice....but i know myself better! It is all about the resale value really I suppose.
What kind of reaction do you get from people that see your blue/persimmon? That may be of help since you are getting "ordinary" reactions. thanks in advance matt |

I have photos of both cars at my profile page if you haven't checked it out yet, please do......I also have photos in the Gallery section, too. |
i don't see why persimmon would hurt resale, because many people like it and it looks killer on black!
being that i don't believe resale will be an issue, i suggest you go with persimmon as it seems that's your initial preference. |

I think the Persimmon is awesome. I got a PG and black since it was right there in front of me on the lot...no waiting. However, I think the persimmon suits the spirit of the car perfectly, matches the gauge color, and may 'open up' the feel of the cockpit a bit. That being said, my all black interior is great and you see minimal dust and dirt in it.

I do not regret the decision to go with PG/Persimmon one bit.

Look, if you're used to flipping cars that much, you're already taking a big hit (4 months on an M3!). At the worst case, the interior will cost you $500.
More than likely, you'll find a buyer who was looking for persimmon anyway... All that said, I'd have to add one concern: I doubt the persimmon will age as well. I'm not sure if that's been the case in the past, it's just my total uneducated guess. It looked like the persimmon would look dirty easily. So I'm sure I haven't helped. |

edit: just noticed you were already aware that you didn't help... me=jack@$$ hahaaa |
Anyone on this forum that had a 350z with the orange int, how did it held up over time?

This helps....it's good to hear opinions. The 4 mo M3 is a litte unusual, but i am not losing any money on it (lease take over, put zero down). A couple of years is more the norm.
I also wondered about the orange and wear....not as much dirt but wonder if it will fade? Spearfish, I have a similar situation; they can get the black quickly but would have to order the persimmon which puts me at 3 mo most likely. |
The Persimmon is my favorite interior color. My problem was that yellow was my favorite exterior color and persimmon is not available for yellow. I don't see how it would hurt resale value. The persimmon interior is like an old school sports car. It's pretty timeless if you ask me.

Everybody i've shown my interior to seems to really love the persimmon.. I don't think it would hurt resale.. you'd probably be in a good place to sell it in the future considering the rarity of the interior.

I was kinda in the same boat. when it came down to ordering my Z i had a VERY hard time deciding between the Persimmon or Black interior. I have a PG with Black. The Persimmon is awesome, i sat in both, and decided to go for the black only because, in pictures the persimmon gives a 'wow' factor, when i sat in it, i went, hmm.. And didnt want to regret getting a 'cool' looking color 6 months from now when i shoulda gotten the black. You can't go wrong with the black at all, its nice, doesn't make you feel cramped in my opinion like someone else said. It's all about what you feel. Forget resale value.
