Loyal Purple vs AMS synthetic

I wonder what is better & suitable engine oil for 370z!
Thank you guys!!

I won't give you a specific answer but bobistheoilguy.com is a great place to find out a lot about the different oils. Also, Royal Purple is great but some of the folks over in 350 forum land have noted it may not be the best for the VQ series.

Both very good oil. I vote for Amsoil.

There was an AMS-Oil guy on the Evo-X forum I use to frequent... He totally sold me on it. Maybe I can get him to come over here...

Which viscosity do you use? The Amsoil 5W30, 5W40 or?

Have you tried their EA012 oil filter?

CBRich 05-22-2009 02:44 PM

My first change will include the Amsoil filter. A bit hard to swallow at around $16 but it's superior construction has been proven.

Very curious about this. Do you remember why the oil wasn't the best for the engine?

What the hell is "Loyal" Purple oil? Is it the Canadian version of "Royal" Purple or it is a brand Shumby sells?

frost 05-22-2009 03:00 PM

^ It's royal purple with a little bit of NOS energy drink added.

I am not allowed to publicly post prices but, if the Forum will allow me, I will sell AMSOIL at Dealer Cost...

Just as anything, there is good and bad to Royal Purple. I will find the good one day.. LOL

Seriously though. As in the case of their 10W-40 oil. It shears out of grade in the First Sequence of a 3 Sequence ASTM Test.

I have seen many posts claiming more HP... At what expense ? Dyno claims need to be backed by other facts such as ASTM Testing which Royal Purple does not have.

Royal Purple has been asked to stop their present advertising or they will be taken to court.

The link I had is no longer valid but I hope to have it up on my website this weekend for all to view.

Cheers all and have a safe Memorial Weekend !

Doc

Shears at step 1? Like, comes apart?

CBRich 05-22-2009 04:48 PM

Doc, so we meet again with the Amsoil thing. I would love to see some information about the Amsoil ASTM test in comparison to a few other "top" oils. And you may be interested in checking with AK about becoming a vendor. I'm sure a lot of guys would love to get on board with some good oil supplies at a nice cost.
