Well guys i signed up to these forum cause it looks like it has an awesome community and i just had a question im stuck right now in make a decision of either getting a 2012 Lexus is250 fsport or a 2012 nissan 370z sport package can u guys help me decide? thanx

theDreamer 01-08-2012 03:32 PM

Ummm...well, do you need a 2 seater or a 4 door?
That right there will narrow it down to one.

Honestly im in college right now this is like a gift so im ok with just getting 2 door

mantella87 01-08-2012 03:36 PM

One is fast, one is slow.

padillaZ 01-08-2012 03:37 PM

Which one do u think looks better?

mantella87 01-08-2012 03:42 PM

If I were you, I would go for the 370. Even though I think the IS250 is an awesome looking car, I see them everywhere. Since they aren't even in the same league performance wise, I'm assuming it is coming down to speed or "prestige" for you.

Honestly ur right i do see the is250 everywhere and the performance is definitely on the 370z ... so far right now im leaning more towards the 370z specially since i want to work on it

wow, two very different cars you're looking at OP.

If you want a nice entry level luxury car, the is250 is the way to go. A bit more practical too and probably a bit better on mpg I'd imagine.

If you want a sports car, and all the good and bad that goes with that, then the 370z is the right car.

Test drive both, think about what meets your needs/wants best and then pick.

(I'd get the 370z, but I'm biased ;))

well i dont think its much difference in mpg and right now i have an 03 maxima that does the same mpg as the 370z so yea i think all things lead to the 370z ;)

LOL?

happytheman 01-08-2012 05:12 PM

You really couldn't expect to get any Other response on a Z board, could you?

I think it really boils down to what you feel after test driving both. The Lexus is more practical, but.....there's something to be said for not having to be "it" when it comes time to drive someplace, simply because you've got a back seat!:)

FL 4Motion 01-08-2012 05:35 PM

If I had an is250, I'd be pissed that I didn't get the is350, and if I then got the is350, I'd be pissed that I didn't get the ISF...

so, OP if you get the lexus, you should just get the ISF.

If you're going to be a douche... be a F'in FAST douche!!!

(or just get a CTS-V and then be a hillbilly fast douche!!)

imwazn 01-08-2012 05:48 PM

im in college right now with a 370, and i gotta say i love it. you dont have to give rides to all of your friends cause you only have one seat, you dont really need to have all the extra room right now, and its a 370...

The BlueMax 01-08-2012 08:07 PM

If you can't afford the ISF Lexis then don't bother

The IS-F is a different story....compared to the 370Z.

CC_370z 01-08-2012 09:22 PM

Get the Subaru WRX STI Turbo! AWD

TerribleONE 01-08-2012 09:28 PM

Buy an IS250 and badge it 350 like everyone else that's bummed they bought that car...

But in all seriousness, these cars aren't even comparable

OMGWTFBBQ 01-08-2012 10:30 PM

Yeah. These two cars are on such different levels I don't get what there is to compare lol. The price difference between the IS250 and the IS350 is really small compared to what you get for it. If you're going to get a 2IS, you should really swing for the 350.

Sporty two seater or luxury sedan. Hmm... I have both so I should know haha. :D

OP, these are two completely different types of car, only the difference in horsepower is about 100hp, one is sports car and the other is luxury sedan.

I am curious what are the facts from these two cars make them your candidate??

kenchan 01-09-2012 11:14 AM

this is why i think the OP should take a serious look at the hyundai elantra. :icon17:

elmz 01-09-2012 01:11 PM

Like everyone has said these are two very different cars. The IS250 is a luxury car and the Z is a sports car. So it really depends on what you're looking for. I've spent a lot of time in my bro's IS250 and so I'll try to give you some perspective on both cars. The interior in the IS is much nicer. The leather is nice and soft, dash layout is elegant, super quite inside, plenty of room in the back, but what I liked the most is how deep the black color is on the gauges/dash and interior. It looks more appealing, where the Z kinda looks like a faded black. I always felt a little disappointed hopping back in the Z after borrowing his car. Since you're not going to get much power out of the IS, tuning the suspension is a must. I remember how dull the car felt stock, but after lowering it and throwing on some bigger wheels and tires, I can honestly say I was impressed with the grip and handling. It felt like it was on rails with little body roll. As far as looks, the Z is the eye catcher when you compare them in stock form. But once you hook up the IS its a sexy looking car. Personally, I always felt more ballin driving the IS, but I always felt like a boss in the Z. The power difference is night and day, the Z is loud, a little rough, and does what you want when you want it. No matter how you look at it, the Z wins in every performance category. The interior design is great, it feels like a racing cockpit designed around the driver. The gauges are all staring you in the face and everything is within perfect reach.

The Z is a more driver focused car, if you like driving as much as I do, then the Z is the one you want.

If you like nice materials when you cruise and you're not worried about performance then the IS is the car you want.

How about Hyundai Veloster, it's in between a coupe and a sedan, 3-doors.

LOL

sure that's even better. they even have a green one for my neighbor down the street. :ugh2:

brucelidat 01-09-2012 02:03 PM

If you're a man, you should at least be looking at the is350. You'll also be pretty close in straight line performance as well and have more practicality than the z. I thought about the is350 and my girlfriend wishes I got the 350, ha. But at the end of the day, I didn't NEED a new car (the is350 is more of an upgrade to a nicer fast sedan from my old 2007 3.5 altima, which would be fine if it was dying and I needed a new car), I wanted the (affordable and reasonably priced) dream car so 370z it was. Another thing to consider is that the is has been around for a long time now and is due to be changed soon. So if you're the type who likes to have the newest current body style, it might not be the way to go. The IS is for poeople who want entry level luxury and Japanese. And women in particular when talking about the 250.

Anyhow, judging form your responses to responses, OP, you seem to be heavily leaning towards the 370. You'r ein college too, awesome time to have car like that as long as you don't drive it like a douche or like a road hazard a$$hole.

brucelidat 01-09-2012 02:04 PM

also, I thinkt he z would help you more with the college ladies than the is. It looks way sexier and besides, the women who will be attracted to the is would probably say, "why don't you have a 3 series" douchemania!

:icon18: hahaha. true that. or a fiat500.

FL 4Motion 01-09-2012 02:07 PM

IS250=v6 mustang or camaro

IS350=v8 mustang or camaro

Not in performance, in principle. Ie, never buy the cheapest entry level car of a particular model, get the best or wind up regretting it later.

that's a good call. I really like the new M models, esp that M56, 420 v8 hp. :yum:

brucelidat 01-09-2012 02:50 PM

Yeah, the new Ms look nice. If I was int he market for a fats luxury mid-sized, I would definitely be checking those out.

OMGWTFBBQ 01-09-2012 03:28 PM

And if you ended up with a M37, GTM is still offering that free supercharger for letting them borrow your car for a month for CARB testing. ;)
