Also I feel as if a 370 is more "mature" than an evo. Meaning I don't feel as if after I got outta college I would have outgrown the z

I love my Z and its an overall better built car. It launches to 60 and the quarter faster than an evo. The interior is leagues better than an evo... BUT, you can't ignore the fact that an intake, exhaust and tune adds an insane amount of horsepower cheaply and easily. Its uber cheap to extract enormous gains. Also a proper coilover greatly improves handling. I did choose a Z because I am willing to spend ridiculous money for a turbo. But if I wasn't willing? I think the EVO is a better out the box "tuning-performance" buy. While the Z is a better overall buy. I say test drive both... if you don't want to spend a lot on mods. A tacky interior doesn't irritate you and need back seats? Go evo.
If you want high quality, low maintenence reliable non-aspirated performance. Are willing to get completely azz-raped for mods and do not need backseats. The Z is the best way to go. Both are extremely good in handling. The EVO is one of the best AWD's and the Z is one of the best RWD's. |
Go and test drive '11-12 Subaru Impreza WRX STI. AWD and Turbo, 300hp and 300TQ.

Here is the reason why I bought a NISMO:
1) It's definitely fast enough (to get big money speeding tickets). 2) IMO it looks better than any car on the road...dare I say it's sexy. The NISMO wheels are the best stock wheels I have ever seen. 3) There are way too many STIs where I live and Zs are pretty rare. 4) Unlike the 350Z I can fit my golf bag in the back. 5) I laugh when I see men in their 40s driving Evos and STIs. 6) It's a true sports car. 7) Girls love it! I learned this after I bought it...BONUS :) |
^ very good points made thankss !!

Provided a counterpoint to the choice of NISMO over Touring. |
Having owned a 2004 RX-8 I can attest to the earlier comments about the difference between the Z and the Mazda in terms of acceleration. While it was cool to push the Mazda to 9k rpms and the rotary sound is unique, there is no "umph".
You won't find the Z to be a nimble in terms of handling as the RX-8. However, it is very planted and can take all kinds of gas through the turns. It is more fun, IMO, than the Mazda as a result. You will almost double your gas mileage with a Z. And no more adding oil every 1000 miles! Sorry, can't comment on an EVO...have never driven one! |
Thank you for the info. Its valuable coming from a previous rx8 owner lol.
