You lucky dawg. I had the most beautiful gun metal blue, five speed turbo with T-tops. That car was just a scream and a dream. I loved taking the tops off and turning the tunes up as high as they'd go, hit that stiffer suspension button, and scream on down the windiest, hilliest road I could find (Highway 66), taking corners at the fastest I could take them. Upshifting to 4th on the straightaways, downshifting to 3rd around the corners, and winding it out again once I was through those was pure joy. I used to say it was better than sex and you didn't have to sleep on the wet spot.

I loved my 300zx turbo. I really miss my T-tops.

A story about my old Z and winter. One day I went to work with the Z and it started snowing, and it kept snowing, and snowing, and snowing all day. At 5:00, I went out to get into my car and the snow was higher than the bottom of the door. I crawled and prayed my way home, which was only a little over a mile, but it might as well have been 30 for how long it took me to get there. So I have alley access to my garage, and I'm in the middle of the block. The streets had been plowed once during the day, but the alley had not, and I just got bogged down about four houses way. There must have been 10 inches of snow. My brother and his friend had to come and take my little snowblower and clear the alley with that and push me into the garage.

hahah that sounds fun. my stereo doesn't work but i just ordered a new headunit, should be here any day. can't wait to do exactly what you were talking about in summer though :driving:

why'd you sell it?

homeryansta 01-08-2012 11:20 AM

this year has been the mildest winter in MN as well. We're talking about MN here people! I was bbq-ing the other day in January!!!!!

ZInferno0248 01-08-2012 02:39 PM

It has been ridiculously mild here in Wisconsin as well.
Bought a 07' Audi S4 and put blizzaks on it. AWD, tons of power, almost as fun as the Z but in the snow...

one problem... no snow. Mildest winter I've ever seen, but don't worry, Wisconsin still puts out tons of salt... just in case :(

Today it is a sunny, warm 63 degrees.

Why'd I sell it? A couple of reasons. First of all, I sold it nearly 20 years ago. Living in Minnesota, it had started to rust in the wheel wells, the injectors needed replacing and there was a strong odor of gasoline, which I hated, and it was no longer the beauty it was when I first bought it. It lost its luster -- kinda like I have now, 20 years later! ha ha ha

Gawd, I loved that car. Even more than I love my 370, truth be told.

Yep, Minnesota here, too. Took my dog AND my parrot out for a walk yesterday, it was so warm. Remember last year? It was so blasted cold and snow fell once and never went away again. So strange, this winter. But I've only had to have the blower out once this year, so I better stop complaining.

That's what I was thinking. Hell, my "winter" or rain car IS my Z. My summer car is my 240SX convertible.

keb370z 01-10-2012 07:14 PM

To those of you who garage your Z in winter: how often do you start it up? Does it need to actually be driven once in a while? How often?

This is my first winter with mine, and it will be mostly garaged. Just trying to figure out how often I need to start it and/or drive it.

You should be find storing it for a couple months without starting, most people disconnect the battery, add fuel stabilizer, and etc.

I don't do that, I usually just start her up every couple weeks, and luckily this winter I have been able to drive her around every couple weeks.

It's a good idea when you start it to let if warm up completely.

Why do you say that? i would think the opposite since you are then letting it idle for a long time... and thats not good to do.
