My advice is buy the 370z,

Me and my mother saved up and finally got my dream car which was 03 6sp g35 coupe pearl wht loaded out, too bad i ran into a deer when i moved to georgia from texas.
bought it when i was 15! no lie.

never even drove stick, but did have driving experience. i was born in ny, and if you can drive in NY u can drive anywhere in tha world.

im 20 now and i drive a 96 honda accord bone stock.

all in all....... 370 ovr 350 anyday

P.S. O'doyle rules!

Well, another thing to consider after seeing that you live in New York is what are you going to do for a winter vehicle. A rear wheel drive vehicle shouldn't be your first choice of car for a beginner driver especially if it is your ONLY car.

kenchan 01-05-2012 11:43 AM

watch, the OP is a seasoned F3 driver. :D

Ok i know how he feels I my self am.16 and got my 370z on my 16th birthday some might call me spoiled or stupid since I do not pay a single cent on it not even gas my parents pay for everything including insurance but if the lid can get the car why not be happy for him don't be jealous just cause some people could not get a $30k+ car at 16 and yes as my first car it was quite a bit of power but now that my z is modded I have not crashed and drive carefully just because we are 16 doesn't mean we are stupid and are going to go speesing down the highway crashing into everyone that said get the 370z you'll love it

Damn son you are spoiled
I believe noone is hating here, it's just that in general, most teens are stupid when a powerful car is involved, myself included.
Congrats on the car though!

tonybui 01-05-2012 12:01 PM

oh, buy the 350 so there's one less 370z on the road LOL

well when you put it like that lol, you do sound spoiled. no need to tell everyone who paid for what and that you dont pay for gas or insurance, of course people will think you are spoiled lol... Anyway, If anyone, we blame your parents... :)

The main point is that a 16 year old is not experienced with driving enough to handle a fast car, and its not a wise decision...

Not every 16 year old is responsible enough to own a sports car for their first vehicle. But in your case the 370Z was given to you. You are very fortunate to be in that situation.

I'm sure many teens own nicer, faster, and more expensive cars as their first vehicle but saving up for and spending your entire savings on any vehicle isn't a wise choice.

To answer your question OP... The 370Z has serious issues with cooling, and another area where the 350Z excels (ever so slightly) is in fuel tank design. If I were you, I'd buy a gently used 07-08 350Z and save the rest for maintenance.

No offense taken, but the Z is no v8 musclecar, the Z is a non-aspirated v6, for a v6 the power is pretty up there. But I think the OP should buy an 07 350z or G35. I actually would go G35 due to insurance being lower and the 07 G being a rare car. Don't pay over 21k and less than 30k miles. Then the other 15 or so k you have saved... I would use half to mod and save half for something else. But wait a year before you mod. Drive the car "SAFELY" and learn tthe cars limits under the legal conditions. Then customize based on your needs and weaknesses.

It does make great power for a non-aspirated car. I had no clue the engine was non-aspirated....how does it run?

toxik 01-05-2012 02:38 PM

Amused Nismoed 370z first car, YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

gbrettin 01-05-2012 02:40 PM

UNKNOWN_370 - Nearly every car is aspirated (breathing). The Z is Naturally Aspirated (NA) stock.

Forced Induction is your Super Charger or Turbo Charger. Red_Zed Is pulling your chain.

kenchan 01-05-2012 02:40 PM

lol...!! :rofl2:

like a girl that keeps yacking without breathing.

It may not have the most "power" but I would definitely say its fast...

Fast is a matter of perspective.

I agree. But when its times are similar and close to all sort of V8's out there, id say its fast. Obviously its no vette or the like... Unless someone only thinks that something that runs a 10 second quarter or a 0-60 in 3.5 are the only things they consider fast... thats not realistic to me...

Oh jeez, 16? Wow. Okay, I learned to drive in Texas, so I was thinking 17-18. Yeah, insurance may not even be possible.

Where in Texas required you to be 17-18 to get a license? I have been legally driving since I was 15 and I'm the same age as you. :P

Dunno, I had to be 17 to take driver's ed at home. I learned from my Dad, not some driving teacher. Maybe it was a requirement for the home-course, but it certainly made me a better driver, I think. Dad=much more experienced that most driver's ed teachers.
