key battery

any idea how long the battery in the key lasts.

anthonyy 12-07-2011 03:38 PM

nvm...

From the manual:

The Intelligent Key port does not charge the Intelligent Key battery. If you see the low battery indicator in the vehicle information display, replace the batter as soon as possible.

[If the battery dies] inserting the Intelligent Key into the port allows you to start the engine.

Mine lasted 2 years before replacing.

I know I do...

:icon18:

That isn't a recharger. Just a key holder. In the event your battery dies you can insert your key in the car and get the car started till you buy a battery. You can open the trunk by placing the key in the door and making sure both doors have been opened with a double turn. Then the trunk will open when you touch the button in the rear.

Sorry to burst your bubble but you need a watch battery for your fob. With daily use they last about 1 year. Maybea few months longer???

Haha no need to go back and edit your post

But wow that's not long of a life span for such little usage

LakeShow 12-08-2011 12:31 AM

That's unusually fast.

UNKNOWN_370 12-08-2011 06:26 AM

I been using these fobs for 4 years and the best I've done is about 15 months without changing the battery. Salesmen will tell you 2 to 3 years but I don't know a whole lot of people that get that much out of a bettery.

garyzez5 12-08-2011 06:53 AM

Thanks for the info my battery has been in since i bought the car 8/09. Guess its time.

UNKNOWN_370 12-08-2011 07:04 AM

Damn, then you're doing better than me. :)

sheps58 12-11-2011 09:36 AM

I was told the key port will drain the battery and is only to be used when the battery in the key fob is dead. I was given that information when I went for a test drive in an Infiniti G25x. We should keep an extra battery in the glove box.

Rockcrawler 08-28-2012 12:29 PM

Yes, I searched, so forgive me if i'm a dummy.... is it simply a matter of prying open the fob and buying a new battery at a local retail place and pop it in?

clamphibian 08-28-2012 04:21 PM

Mine has lasted for 3 years and seven months and 100k miles. The battery is pretty low right now.
