Dude please don't get a Z. You won't be happy and will just rag on it more than you already do. Is it perfect no, but what car is?

My impression is that the Z's interior is the real deal. It's nice. You do begin to notice some "$40k" qualities in various ways when you drive the car every day, though, such as:

-ergonomics (for example, resting your arm on the left armrest does not put your hand in a great position to hold the wheel, for long drives - I drove an M3 and have to say it was PERFECT on this aspect)

...

-engine harshness above 5-6k
...

-apparently, short people can't see over the big side mirrors

Ach -- yes, yes, and yes (a mere 5'7" with perfect posture).

I can't ever seem to get the steering wheel or seating height just right for the arm or the eyes, and we all know the Z sounds less than harmonious over 6K.

Still -- I loves it :D

After driving the car, I disagree. I have never complained about that, though. I did loud. It got old fast.

If you picked up a 911 or GTR, I can GUARANTEE you that w/in 6 mo or less, you'd be looking at tweaking/improving certain things here or there. It's just the way it goes with folks like us.

People adapt. Period. You see TT Gallardo's, no?

I have adapted to 505bhp.

332bhp will be a bitch for a while, then that too will feel the same to ME as 505bhp did.

The interior is worlds ahead. THAT and the smaller note and equal handling (albeit a bit quirkier from what I hear) is the impetus for the trade.

Its fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow. The Z is a FUN car to drive. When they make a 390z or turbocharge it anything to get it a little faster and keep it comparable to the muscle cars i will all over it. My mustang is faster but the overall feel you get in the Z is not the same. It handles like a little race car. I will probably always go from one to the other. I would like to have both.

I am short (5'8-5'9 ish), so yes the giant mirror slaps me in the face, when I make a left turn, but 99% of the time it's not an issue, if you're aware of your surroundings before hand (specifically referring to when the mirror blocks your sight of a pedestrian crossing).

Clear Bra should provide at least some protection for the clear-coat as long as you don't hit too hard it shouldn't mess the car up. Most people recoil from such a situation, lessening damage to your car. It's the children that you have to worry about, they can take out a radiator and often times are oblivious to their surroundings and may not flee in time.

You and JDM. Honestly you could say the same thing about any car in this price range.

Nothing is going to be "just right" south of $40k.

I'm not even gonna go there with you. Its "Mostly" the domestic visiting ex Z owners always in bicker mode. My comments are backed by the type of modifications you see in websites and tuner shops for this type of car. I'm not getting into it with you. Those who buy nismos and base models I think undeerstand what I mean???

Your statement is true to the global market while mine is a more specified comment for this distinct realm of import vehicle.

At the end of the day, These are mod cars. They are built to a certain spec and you need to complete the rest. JDM is all about incredible platforms that need personalization.

You may as well say, "JDM is all about only going halfway, instead of actually doing the job right"...

If thats the way JDM culture is, I hate JDM culture even more.

You just make it seem like JDM is the only game it town when it comes to the customization and personalization thing, but the truth is just about any popular car in this price range has a tremendous aftermarket behind it.

JDM lags FAR behind the mustang world. You 370Z guys are still trying to master how to tune your VVEL.

All that is a moot point to me, though, as the car will remain either stock, or get a few S-tune parts at the most.

So far I know:

PS2's
Wrap
Valentine 1
Ceramic tint

Other than that, it seems just fine to me, but if the OEM exhaust is too quiet (doubt that), then I might go with the NISMO exhaust, or a different one if it won't void warranty.

m4a1mustang 10-28-2011 09:16 AM

Why PS2s? They are old and the new PSS is better.

Also, stock exhaust is too quiet. It should have come stock with the NISMO exhaust.

Its ridiculously quiet...you should probably go drive one lol. You'll barely hear it, even when getting on it. A different one wont void your warranty...

I thought the new PS2-ZP was the latest and greatest, and non ZP for cars that don't use them.

How is the NISMO exhaust?

How good are the OEM Potenza's on the sport package?

I had considered the Fast Intentions exhaust cat-back setup. From what I can see, it's a no-brainer in bolting it on as you don't have to go over the suspension as you do with the other cars I have owned, basically, un-bolt the exhaust, pull it off the hangers, and reverse. Am I missing something? It looks like 45 minutes under the car, max.

I would want ZERO drone, though. Drone FTL.
