If you are willing to pay for the repairs and damages the supercharger is going to cause.. then sure. Mod away!

I would love to wait, but I would love even more to move and buy some property. Right now, I feel that we are in limbo. Nothing really cool is coming out for another 2 years or so, and when it does, it's going to be another 2-3 years before anyone gets it right (Look how long it took Nissan to put an oil cooler in the 370Z, Ford to put a real motor in the retro mustang, GM to fix the transmission quirks in the 'vette). By the time the new cool stuff comes out and the flaws are worked out, I'll be ready to buy again--and have moved and have some property :) The Z06 was all about owning a badass car, fulfilling a dream, and doing something "I just wanted to do". It's fun, it's absurd, it's over the top. I would do it all over again in a heart-beat. That said...I have the option to refuse the 370Z when it comes in, with no love lost, according to the dealer. |
screw warranty. do it!

I went through the full spectrum of mods when I had my '99 Civic Si. Suspension, supercharger, oil cooler (nice Greddy unit), electronics, then Hondata, etc. It was great fun and I was young enough to enjoy it and wanted to spend the time tweaking it here and there. I also did all the work on it and installed all the mods myself.
Have I been tempted to install a supercharger on my S2000? Yes! Especially since my neighbor across the street supercharged his S2000. Have I looked at the Stillen supercharger for my 370z? Oh heck yeah... I just don't think it's worth it in the end. Better to pony up the extra cash upfront when you buy a car. $10k gets you into a whole different class of vehicle. |
I LOVE my TT Z! They can have it when they pry it from my cold dead hands!
I have no plans to get rid of it and have had zero issues to date. I still get a big stupid grin whenever I drive it. I am getting sad that she wil be in hibernation soon. Damn you winter. With that said, you cannot enter into FI lightly. You have to be realistic. What the others have said is good advice. Hope for the best but plan for the worst. And I agree that if you are going to do this on a base at the very least get an LSD. No point in spending all that money and not being able to put the power down. Hell, you can hardly put it down with an LSD. |
