Washer Fluid Reservoir Level
 

Hi guys, sorry this might sound like a stupid question but I was hoping someone could help me out. I'm currently running a meth injection kit installed by GTM. I'm sure Sam will post it shortly in the Forced Induction system.

My question is related to the window washer reservoir. My meth/water mixture is stored there. I filled it up to the top of the reservoir neck, put the cap on, and drove home for 15 miles. Tonight, I check it and the liquid in the neck is completely gone, but it is near the top of the main reservoir area (using a flashlight to check).

I'm sure I didn't really hit boost/meth spray enough during my 15 miles home for it to use that much meth. So I'm wondering, is there some reason why the liquid in the reservoir neck is completely gone?

This question could basically pertain to anyone filling window washer fluid in there as well all the way to the top of the neck... Does the fluid just spill out from the top of the neck as you're driving?

Not sure, you would think the 'Low Fluid' light would come on same as it would for washer fluid prior to it going empty... :ugh2:

Well, the fluid was at the top of the reservoir tank so there was plenty there. I was just wondering where all the fluid in the neck portion went... does it just splash around and out of the car as you drive?

Unless the cap wasn't snapped all the way down, it shouldn't... Unless a clamp isn't tightened all the way down, or too much.

Try filling it again to the brim and running the car to see if any drips out where you're parked.

I would guess the rubber seal at the bottom of the filler neck, thats the part that slides into the main reservoir tank is leaking the water.
That would explain the missing water up to the lower part of the neck.

Alright, I just filled it up to the top and it is indeed leaking. Trip, I do see the joint you're talking about , but the level was definitely way below that point. I'd say about a little less than an inch below the top of the main reservoir.

Crack somewhere?

The reservoir is made of two pieces the filler neck and the main tank.
You need to replace either the rubber seal or the filler neck with seal.
I suggest pulling back the wheel liner and taking a look to make sure its in all the way.
It may have not been installed properly

Took a flashlight and a telescoping automotive mirror. There's no visible leak coming from the neck to main tank connection. I'm afraid I'll have to pull the bumper off and/or wheel liner like you suggested... This sucks.

This is a blessing compared to other things that could go wrong with FI builds. Don't worry, it's prolly gonna be a simple fix, adjust the hose, tighten a clamp, done! :tup:

Yeah, I hear ya. Just wish this was checked before I picked it up two days ago.

If there was absolutely nothing wrong with it... Something isn't right... :ugh2:

A minor hiccup like this isn't too bad. A simple oversight maybe.

So I'm guessing now, you just have to remember not to hit the 'wiper fluid' button on the control arm right? :icon17:

Haha yeah I'm sure everything is fine. Could be anything. Maybe no leak at all neither, maybe the pressure from the system sucks in back and forth so I can't get a consistent level check anymore. I'll check it out...

A little less than an inch beyond that point could be from splashing around during normal driving or lets hope so. Good luck

Yeah I'm sure nothing is wrong. The kit has been great and the car is running good. I'm sure it is just something random but i guess pulling the bumper off to take a look for some peace of mind is worth it.

Ok I think I figured it out. The reservoir appears to have a bunch of baffled sections up top. One section is at a certain level, the others might be at different heights as well. None of the sections were filled all the way up to the top of the reservoir level, even though the neck was still pretty high up (just about two inches from the top of the fill lid). You'd think the neck being all the way filled would just fill up the entire reservoir level as well, but this wasn't the case.

I'm therefore guessing that the 1/2" shift right now was just a small rebalancing inside of the reservoir.

Maybe because I drove it after I filled it up the other night too, the movement of the car moved more meth/water back and forth and down the fill neck into some other baffled areas up top.

I can't find any seepage anywhere, everything looks pretty good. I left the bumper off to check again tomorrow and the day after and if everything is all good with the height, that's gotta be it...

One thing I did notice was that everything that GTM did with the kit was pretty top notch. I couldn't verify it with the bumper on but all it's definitely a professional install. If taking off the bumper has done nothing but confirm this confidence in them and their work for me, that's good enough.

But yeah, hoping the next two days, the fluid level still stays the same hahaha
