Synchro Rev Question

Nissan has had a very cool innovations like Synchro Rev My question to owners with Synchro Rev: is it worth $ premium? Why?

I am considering a 2012 base model, but the Synchro Rev has captured my imagination (my experience with controls systems cause my mind to go into overdrive when I see Synchro Rev). That being said, I have been driving a MT 240SX for 16 years, so I am wondering if that extra $ could be better spent.

Please weigh in if you own a Z with Synchro Rev and state that you have this option: I would like to be able to identify opinions from S-Rev owners.

BTW, I've read a couple of threads and the quality of postings and people seems much better than any other auto community. Kudos.

Yes to me. I was never a smooth shifter, the system made it smoother for me so my wife enjoys the ride a little bit more. Most importantly, I was faster with it on than off even though I can blip the throttle on my own. Still, the speed and the accuracy the system can do it at I just can't match it

The synchro-rev is trick -- I did not use it at first, but now usually keep it on for daily driving. It blips the throttle faster than you can do it with the pedal, IMO.

The main reason to get it is because it is part of the sport package. The LSD and bigger brakes in the sport package are worth the dollars. Syncro-rev is a bonus. Again, this is my opinion.

I love it honestly. I suck at heel-toe, so this makes me "sound" like I'm good at it. I think it's nice just for the overall cleaner feel of driving.

Wouldn't get a Z without it. I love it.

Worth $3000? No, but it's worth it when combined with all of the other things that come with the sport package. I love the synchro rev match and I am 100% glad I got the sport package. if synchro rev match was a stand alone option, then I would probably pay $1500 for it.

yes, feature adds value, it's awesome if you aren't a pro at heel-toe, and you can always just turn it off. As mentioned, it's mandatory in my opinion, as it comes with all the other stuff, like an LSD, etc.

my Z is the first manual car I ever driven and it makes a huge difference for me when I drive with it on vs off. I think even a experienced driver would find this feature to be useful.

This! Well stated Rui!

I think the Sport Package is definitely a value add, for sure. What are your plans with the Z? Track, show or otherwise?

Even if you are a pro at heel-toe it still is fun.

Maybe you're a pro at heel-toe but you're just lazy 99% of the time. For that, SRM is awesome. I used it a lot.

IMO it is only good when you are spirited driving. Works perfectly too.
Gas waster just for cruising or regular driving.

The sports package is a HUGE value for the Z. Honestly I don't know if I would buy the Z without sports...

Lemers 10-13-2011 07:31 AM

So I've had the sport mode on for a year now and decided to drive around with the sport mode off to see if it really does anything. For me it doesn't. But I've driven MTs most my adult life.

If you can shift a MT with no problem and want to mod your car get the base. If you aren't going to mod get the sports package for the other things like brakes, suspension, and rims.

:iagree:

Which includes the 19" Rays wheels, Big brake pkg. and Limited slip diff.

lazywolfe 10-13-2011 07:51 AM

I love it. Not sure what I'd pay for it individually, but I'd definitely pay something.
