"Fairlady Z re-badge"
"Fairlady Z re-badge"
OK so im kind of on the fence on this one, so I wanted to get some opinions on rebadging my Z. I think it's a kind of cool idea, paying homeage to the Z's of old... lil bit of history sort of thing, ya know? I ordered the FairladyZ badge from Nissan parts, but then called and canceled my order. I just cant seem to lean one way or the other on this thing. Im thinking of reordering it, but I need some opinions here! http://www.courtesyparts.com/images/...95-Z34FL_4.jpg |
It's not an old Z thing. Z34s in Japan are called Fairlady Z.
|
I say go for it. Nothing wrong with going JDM
|
If you decide to do it, let me know.
I've got the "Fairlady" part of the badge if you want it. You can use your existing Z. It's the same size. I used the Z from the badge for another failed project. :( |
|
I added one. Questions like "is that a special model" and "does it have more HP than the regular version" and then having to explain it make me feel like a poser. I regret it a bit now.

Side note, the original Fairlady's are pretty damn small, this is one from the 2010 Z Store meet.. http://i638.photobucket.com/albums/u...y/IMG_2098.jpg http://i638.photobucket.com/albums/u...y/IMG_2097.jpg |

Waizz -- actually the first Fairlady was built in 1959 -- the S211 shown below.
I am well familiar with the vehicle shown in your photos from the Z show; it is an SPL 311 and I have owned a few of them. However, it is not a Fairlady being as it is left hand drive. Outside of Japan, it was called a "Roadster" or a "1600" or "2000" depending on engine displacement. I have been buying, driving, restoring, rebuilding, wrecking Datsuns/Nissans (primarily Z's) since my first 510 in 1975 and have made a point over the years to study Nissan's history. |
I was too. So I ended up not removing the "370Z" emblem. I applied my "FairladyZ" emblem in the passenger dash. It looks nice.

Putting the badge on doesn't damage the car. If you like it do it.

Even then it's a little paint correction. Its not like adding FI and blowing an engine. Minimal risk involved

"Only 2 R390 road cars were ever built, and one is stored at Nissan's Zama warehouse. The street-legal road car is capable of running 0-60 mph in 3.3 seconds and 0-100 mph in just 6.8 seconds. The 1/4 mile is accomplished in just 11.1 seconds at 134 mph (216 km/h). The top speed is 220 mph (350 km/h)." i heard they had to make a few roadgoing versions of the race cars to pass hamoligation rules just like porsche with it's street versions of the 996 GT1. try a google search before spouting info  |

If you get it though, I do appreciate it is an "homage" not an insult, This guy likes Z cars. I did prefer the Z vs Nissan burger. |

It's your car do what pleases you. If you change your mind it can be removed. If you are asking for opinions on this maybe you should hold off.

It may be just a badge but ur dealing with import convert. No topic is spared from his over dramatic dikish commentary and self righteous know it all answers.

If you're on the fence, then I wouldn't bother. Then on the other hand it's a relatively cheap mod and an easy fix if you don't like it...plus you could resell the emblem if you change your mind. I don't think this mod constitutes any sort of "posing" but you may get some stupid questions as others have mentioned.

He is right though, the true sports cars have always been Fairlady's (other than the R390 or GT-R's) |

You plugged your other cars in a completely unrelated post, just so you could.."FAIL" ( so what if Im a little envious that you own a Z06 lol.. but it's still a GM) double FAIL You knock what other people do to their car as "dumb assery" also FAIL... We aren't talking about putting a type R badge on the back, or a BMW "M".. The fact of the matter is, the car IS a FairladyZ... And I would be quick to think that it might have been people like you (not an insult) in America in the 60's and 70's that caused the Fairlady name NOT to follow the car here.. Think about it... With such names a the Cuda, Judge, Goat, Challenger, Road runner, and whatever other testosterone laden names were being badged onto cars back then; a car with the name "Fairlady" Or Sylvia, would have never sold... I was a bit on the fence, however I did re order the badge.. I personally dig it, and don't feel in any way that I'm making it into something its not. Im making it mine, and isnt that what its all about? I really do apreciate all of the feedback I received though. No hard feelings! Thanks! |
You have to agree with captain little limp noodle or the roids will make his head splode.
