Should I sell my factory stereo?

So I had a nice aftermarket audio install on my 2010 370Z. I now have the factory OEM base model headunit laying around. I checked eBay, and there was only 1 for sale, and it was listed for $500 or best offer.

Should I sell mine? What do you think I could get for it? I had custom component speakers installed, as well as an amp and custom enclosure. I can't see pulling out my speakers when I sell the car, or total it, as I have added all the equipment to my insurance policy.

Hmmm, I checked completed listings on eBay, and there were 2 radios both starting at $150, and neither of them had any bids.

If I couldn't even get $150, I don't think its worth selling it.

I normally try to keep all of my aftermarket parts in storage so I can return the car as close to stock as possible when I sell it, but if you can get $500 for the HU go ahead and sell it.

*Edit: If it's just $150 just hold on to it.

I don't think anyone will pay $500 for it. Keep it and reinstall it later if needed

man, the base oem HU is so terrible, i can't imagine anyone in his right mind would ever want to buy it.

based on that assumption, i decided to rip the faceplate off that sucker by brute force, plastic tabs snapping, buttons flying everywhere. then i superglued the buttons back onto that ***** and use the thing as a faceplate for my aftermarket ddin.

it just hangs in place over the screen and does a passable job of hiding the alpine from outside looking in.

that is more use than any base HU deserves. i threw the rest of the oem HU in the garbage, right where it belongs!

:gtfo2: oem HU! rock cod dammit!

the only reason to keep it would be to put it back in when you sell or trade your car. iv'e had to learn the hard way through the years and would always
let the after market unit go with the car. not anymore i'm tired of pay an extra 1000.00 for a new unit......

besides the oem is worth about 35 dollars. my ipod sounds better

When I looked at selling mine there were 5 or so listed, they were around $90 and I doubt any sold. It seems when the cars they came from are 3-5 years old there is some market for OEM head units. But honestly put it in a sealed bag and throw it in the attic.

Keep it. The base HU is the same one found on the Sentra and Versa and I'm sure other Nissan cars lol. Not worth the time or effort.

i have the base stereo somewhere in storage. i dont expect to get any more than $35 ($50 shipped) for it. imho it's garbage.

if you still have the factory radio and are willing to sell it please call 828-286-5352 or 828-447-2694 Thanks!

Your car will be worth more with the aftermarket quality stereo. Sell the Stock one.

dmhenderson 05-07-2013 10:36 AM

I had two of them and gave them away as white elephant gifts last christmas :3

I've had thoughts about gutting the factory unit to squeeze in an embedded PC and rig up a USB graphic display in place of the OEM amber one. The main display would sit in the cubby holder. Then I got lazy...
