.....whistles innocently
I'm surprised no one has posted up the new predicted NISMO numbers (0-60 4.5) and $37K guestimate price over there yet.

.....whistles innocently
:D

You have to understand, when it comes to the current world auto industry, the "buy American" argument only makes sense to those who can't understand the reality of the industry today or those who refuse to understand it.

Trying to engage in any sort of logical/factual argument with those of that mindset is a waste of time because their position is not based on logic or facts; it's based on emotion and a world-view of the domestic automotive industry that may have been accurate in the 1960's but hasn't been accurate for a three or four decades.

What I don't understand about these futile magazine racing comparisons is, why are they comparing a top end Camaro to an low end 370Z? Shouldn't they compare the Camaro SS to the Nismo Z??

Robert_Nash 05-06-2009 04:34 PM

Magazines compare cars to sell magazines; not necessarily because the vehicles compared make any real sense to anyone in the real world.

Camaro, the great American Muscle Car. Developed in Australia and Made in Canada... What did they say on the Camaro Forum, Buy american?? Sorry, could help myself...

Very inmature bunch for the most part over there with a couple of morons who obviously don't know what they're talking about as they keep ragging about the 350Z like that's what the new Camaro is being compared to. Don't have a clue that the 370 is a different car.
Why should anybody care what somebody else likes or doesn't anyway? One of the ways that you can tell that you've grown up is... you recognise that debating with idiots is a waste of time.
I hope the new Camaro is a quality car. I'm a fan of the American hotrod and I like the nastalgia thing. As long as GM respects the American auto buyer by delivering a quality product, I'll be rooting for their success.

True enough

I hope the Camaro lives up to everyones expectation that buys one. I know my Z will live up to mine. In the end, thats all that matters.

At one point and time I felt the same way....camaro this, mustang that. Then I drove a 840 hp car manufactured in Japan............hah hah that was it. But, in the end, its what makes the buyer happy. I think I recall having the " OH yeah, well, my dads got a ..........." arguement when I was around 7 years old. Good thing Ive grown up now.

Nah, just free stereotypes :)

I wanted to like the new camaro, I really did. The outside reminds me of the old days. When I looked inside,, well, they are still plastic crap and ugly. The 370 is such a gorgeous interior, it just blows the camaro away. The outside of the 370 is every bit as gorgeous as the camaro and is a better made car.

chibbell 05-06-2009 07:36 PM

I felt the same way Alan. They had the very base of base models at the Portland Car Show and I was supremely dissapointed. The black steelies just didn't work for it and the interior was so drab and pathetic I thought I was in a Cobalt. The shapes are interesting but there is nothing to break up the monotony. Just one long slab of hard plastic.

If anyone thinks visibility in our car is tough they should sit in a Camaro. You'll love the vista like views the Z gives you in comparison.

It really looks gorgeous in pics and I'd like to see an upgraded trim in person.

On the other hand...the Challenger was really pretty damn sweet. It'd be like parking a boat but it seemed quite nice.

MightyBobo 05-06-2009 07:50 PM

I DO like the new Camaro. But it wont be the track star I was looking for. That'd be the Corvette. But I confess, I do like the 370's styling more.

NeedforZ 05-06-2009 09:17 PM

I was dead set on getting a C6 vette until I test drove the 370z. I like the looks and cabin much better. Yeah, the extra 100hp would've been nice no doubt but a daily driver isn't all about the engine.

m4a1mustang 05-06-2009 09:20 PM

I need to make it to a Chevy dealership to test drive one. I drove the new 2010 Mustang GTs and liked them. I'm sure I'll like the Camaro, too.

Unfortunately I only have so much money and can not afford all of the cars I want at one time. :D
