370Z on Top Gear

I was surprised they didnt have anything on the previous series, considering they had the evo 10 and new STI.

Anyone heard anything about the 370 on Top Gear perhaps next season?? any insight at all, Im dying to know what they think of it lol.

Nissan 370Z news - LA show: 370Z - 2008 - BBC Top Gear

and

Nissan 370Z news - All in your Zed - 2008 - BBC Top Gear

but no video yet.

they did a few on the 350z

Forrest 05-05-2009 03:26 PM

I assumed they did it a favor by not having it on due to it needs a oil cooler.

I can already see jeremy ripping it apart saying fastest car that cant take 1 lap on the track. Then saying something like how much quid the car costs and how much quid the oil cooler costs etc etc

NotmyGTR 05-05-2009 03:33 PM

Cant rip it that bad though. Puts up better numbers than the Mustang GT with a V-8. Although they must have skimped on engine internals on the Ford so they would have enough money left over to pay for all that red tape they are going through.

if i miss it, good thing there's like 5 repeats a day of top gear.....lol

I wonder what jokes he's gonna make about it......ha

Jeremy did not like 350Z especially much - I presume he won't like the 370Z either - I would be extremely surprised if he loves it, very, very surprised.

Article from TopGear Magazine couple months ago.

does jeremy have any thing to do with the topgear magazine?

I suspect they rip the z a new ahole due to no oil cooler. I dont think i ever seen the show pull any punches on a car review yet.

Lug 05-06-2009 10:48 AM

At least Hammond will love it! :D

Greg 05-06-2009 12:32 PM

I think they'll say whatever the writers tell em to say ;)

NissanZ46 05-07-2009 02:38 AM

I'm pretty sure Jeremy does not do any magazine reviews, but he writes his one page article in the mag.

From my understanding Jeremy does alot of the writing on the show.

awesomez 05-07-2009 08:49 AM

I am hoping they don't do it. They will just make me feel bad for buying it. I can see Jeremy now overheating the oil on the track then rightfully making fun of it for not going over 2500 rpm.

chubbs 05-07-2009 11:12 AM

I think he'd enjoy a bit of limp mode - and I think he'd try very hard to achieve it, then pretend it just happened, suddenly, without warning - unless of course they give him one with an oil cooler fitted.

I don't think Nissan are stupid enough to give Top Gear a 370z without an oil cooler, are they?

DinoJ 05-07-2009 11:39 AM

Let's hope not, although i somehow feel that they will. I want to see it achieve higher track results than the STI or Evo X.

I agree hammond will love it, James will have no say probably and Jeremy will end up giving an inconclusive thing that he just loves doing

Musashi 05-07-2009 02:23 PM

Nissan was so careful to give Car & Driver a car equipped with an oil cooler. How scandalous!?

I don't know, I kind of hope hammond gets to review the Z, I mean look at how Jeremy reviewed the 08 GT2, it was a 15 second segment of him spinning out and yelling "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA" and then they didn't even post the GT2 track time, jeremy set it on fire if I recall.

I predict he will say something about the headlights, then go on rambling about how cramped it is, however; he might also compliment the new interior, sync rev, and the POWA

Top Gear is merely a comedy that has cars mixed on, lets be honest here. Fun show, but I'd hardly see their findings as scientific...

This is pretty much my take. I find it odd that so many people pay so much attention to JC's evaluations when the top priority is clearly entertainment.

Then again, many people now get their news from Comedy Central.

We're living in a Kurt Vonnegut novel.

Agreed completely. I love the show for its humor.

Actually in the last few years the research shows that getting news from comedy central makes you more informed than watching any other news channel. I know this because I am into politics.

Top Gear is entertaining and I wouldn't buy a car because they say it's good or bad, but they do get better cars than anybody else and have interesting tips that you might not have been aware of. If they tested a 370Z and said the oil was overheating and I hadn't bought the Z already, I would not have bought it after that. I would be driving SLK350.

ResIpsa 05-11-2009 11:27 AM

Bring the Stig!

Can't wait to see what time the Stig gets on the Test Track. Overheating should not be a problem on a single 2 mile lap.

Pushing_Tin 05-11-2009 12:28 PM

I think the reviews on the show are as good as better than the MSM. Think about it, they are kind of like Consumer Reports in that they do not have to worry about offending advertisers like TV channels or magazines do. That way they are free to really slam the car if it needs to be as opposed to sugar coating it like most car magazines do.
