Weather Nav

Did anyone notice the weather nav got activated for free some how? I still noticed that my traffic XM is unsubscribe but the weather is working for some reason. I never paid for any of these subscription. Anyone getting this as well? I can't complain though, it's pretty nice

huh, im jealous. :D

i use my droidx for tracking weather on weatherbug. :)

didymus 08-30-2011 06:38 PM

Do you actually use the weather?

ENT-Z 08-30-2011 07:33 PM

SiriusXM is free for the next two weeks, maybe this somehow got included?

NFSZ86 08-30-2011 07:37 PM

You guys didn't get the letter from xm? I got it and it's an initiative for those of us who don't use it to start using it I think lol but yeah it's going to b free for the next two weeks=))

NFSZ86 08-30-2011 07:47 PM

Yep, we didn't get a letter but noticed this evening that we were getting weather alerts. We had it for our road trip up north last fall. It was nice on the road trip but doubt I would subscribe for kicking around town. I do like having live radar though. :)

Lemers 08-30-2011 08:16 PM

It's funny that they keep trying to get people to pay for radio. Weather was ok but it seemed like it was always the same thing in my town.

NFSZ86 08-30-2011 08:25 PM

Yeah I personally don't like xm radio, for radio I put pandora and Bluetooth and I'm good, weather my iPhone has a couple of apps. They send me a letter like this at least 4 times a yr to try and get me back in but no thanks, plus the car will be going in hibernation I hope I spell that right lol next month so no need =))

i do on my droidx. my Z being a weekend car i check weather when the sky looks like it's going to rain. depending on wat radar shows i change my routes or speed up. :D

it's very effective if you know how to use radar and barometric pressure. :)
not getting the car dirty saves me about 2hrs wash/detail time.

that being said, i wouldnt pay xm/sirius just for that. as mentioned above, i pandora these days for radio and do everything via my droidx :p

NFSZ86 08-30-2011 08:59 PM

+1 ^^^^^ I wish our navs had apps =))

I never used it before but it looks really nice though. You can see the areas of the state and everything.

I didn't get any letter or notice about this being free for 2 weeks. I was driving home from work when all of a sudden a voice came on "Red Flag Warning in the Area." I thought someone hacked my nav system or something because I've never heard anything like this from the nav before LOL.

I checked their website out, $16 a month is a bit too much for me to keep this XM thing.

If you call them and tell them $16 a month is ridiculous they will give you a better offer. I think they go as low as $5 a month which is okay, but you have to remember to cancel before the year is up and then call again and tell them what ever their current price is now is ridiculous. rinse and repeat. I like the comedy channels they offer but its not enough for the price they ask.

paying for wireless programs in this day in age is old news. they should offer it free with some commercials (not on-screen, have them email or snail mail it to the account holder in a nice looking magazine or newsletter or app to be viewed via smartphone with coupons or something customer will want to be on the look out for).
