I trapped 101mph off the showroom floor.

The sti's have nice interior but they cant keep up with evo. I test drove both and both dealerships let me take hard turns and the evo felt better. Sti's are a better dd but not better on the track

Now the main question is...do you owe anything on the car. What year is it? Take it from me, you dont want negitive equity coming over if you trade.

Now to get into the whole 370z vs Evo....

Gas mileage: not sure why people are saying the Z gets better...i was averaging about 13-15/100km in the Z. I'm at 10.7L/100km with the Evo.

Winter/Weather driving: Well it doesnt take much IQ to realise AWD beats RWD

Performance: Evo takes it again. Sure the Z has abit more hp, but the Evo will beat it on the 1/4 mile and road course.

Ride quality: yea ill admit that the 370z had better quality for DD. What you gotta remember about the rough ride in the Evo is, its ment to shine on a track. Take your car to a road course and you will see how she handles and how it shines. Also the clutch chatter in the Z is retarded.

Looks: well having 4 doors is a plus...get better performance and yet you get 4 doors. I'm half and half on which car looks better.

Now to top it off...the S-AWC system in the Evo will not only help you on the track (if you end up racing) but this thing will save your *** on the streets if something comes up. And it doesnt effect the power output like the Z's VDC system does.

This was me the other day at the track. Came around the turn and one of my tires clipped the edge of the track and i lost traction. The system in the car helped me get straight again, even though i turned the traction control off (one push)
EvoX @ Stratotech - YouTube

Also the Z holds a HORRIBLE resale value....the Evo doesnt (hence why used evo's are like 30K)

negative nancy
oh and these days the Z has ridiculously good resale. look up what theyre bringing at auctions

What was your ET?

And somantic iiunno what you think is good but in 8 months i lost 20k value on my z and it only had 16,000kms on it. I got just over 20,000 for it. I got 24,000 for my 05 srt-10 ram and that had 95,000kms on it. I paid 40k for my evo. But i could get 37k for it if i traded it in.

no offense but maybe you didnt fight hard enough for your trade. ive been in the car business for 4 years, a personal friend owns 6 dealerships in DFW (3 of them nissan dealerships) and right now these things are beasts (here at least). at a nissan dealer only auction a 2010 base auto sold for $32k with 20000 miles

but again thats in texas

Yeah, the 370Z market is strong. I traded my 2009 NISMO 370Z for $31k while buying another car for $250 under invoice. I originally purchased the NISMO new for ~$36k (leftover 2009) and it had <8,000 miles at the time of trade. People who say you lose 40% of the value of your car as soon as you drive off the lot either trash their cars or don't know how to negotiate.

i'll give you that, the dealership that i traded in screwed me (didnt realise it at the time) Thats where i got my SRT-10 Ram.. Right before i sold the truck to get my Evo i was thinking about getting another SRT-10 Ram...a RC instead of the QC. The dealership (same one i got the truck from) would only give me $22,000 for it and wouldnt budge. My gf wanted to go check out a Chevy Cruze (no way in hell i was buying one but i went with her) They offerd me $23,000k. I looked at a STi, that dealership offerd me $26,000...i ended up getting the Evo and traded the truck in for $24,000.

So the dealership that i traded in my 370z for would only give me $22,000 and wouldnt budge on the trade in or the price of the truck i was looking at...but i got offerd as high as 26,000 for the truck. So yea i then realised i got screwed on the trade in for the 370z. But even so, the Evo still has a better trade in/resale value over the Z.

It's not that far from here. Worth it if the prices you claim are even close to correct.

somatic 08-31-2011 01:31 PM

the only thing is youd prolly have to take the exhaust and springs off (springs for sure)

Hello everyone.

So I bought an X back in March, and I love everything statistically about the car, but I'm not sure if it's the right car for me. It's my only car, so it's my DD, but I commute 50 miles total every day. The gas mileage is ok, but with the tank size and gas prices right now it's just getting to me. I didn't buy the car expecting to get great gas mileage, but I have zero free time to take it to the track/mod it, which seems like what this car is meant for. The ride is also a bit rough around the edges.

I'm just curious, on a DD level, how the 370z compares to the X. Has anyone driven both? I haven't had a chance to go test-drive one myself, but I'm thinking about it. Also, over the year, is it cheaper to own a 370z? I know MSRP price tags are about the same, but if maintenance/mileage/comfort are far superior I might make the switch.

If anyone has own/driven both these cars I would love to hear their opinions. The other car I was looking at was a new Scion TC. I know it's not the best car in the bunch, but it's good gas mileage and I plan on getting a bike, so my fun could come from that.

Thanks for any and all help/advice!

-Nick

I drive 41 miles one way right now so 81 miles (used to be 50 each way so 100 miles) going into L.A. Honestly 50 miles doesn't seem like a long commute at all.

That being said the 370z has made my commute a *lot* more livable. Have not driven a EVO X but I did come from a '06 Subaru impreza. Granted it was not the WRX/STI so way less power but I think the interior/ride would be fairly similar. I enjoy my commute with the Z a hell of a lot more.

The 19 gallon tank is nice as it means I usually only have to fill up once a week. Getting 100 less miles per tank on my Subaru was definitely annoying. Amazingly the non turbo got worse gas mileage than my 370z did.

Of course I am in Socal with no snow (almost never).

EDIT:

LOL and I just realized I was responding to a thread from last year. Thanks |samu for bumping such an old thread.

On another note, I've been considering trading my car for an evo x.

But can't seem to let the z go ....

kidkotic2001 07-31-2012 11:15 AM

I have had both got rid of the X since I did not use it much. I live in Texas it never snows and we barely see rain at least in my part of the state. I think that Z is a good DD.

Th3 On3 07-31-2012 12:14 PM

I'm in Texas also it's always dry whether here. I love my car as a DD.

The spouse is the one that hates my car. =\

I don't agree, at least completely, with the idea of the 370Z as a three-season car. I had a car with similar tires, RWD, front air dam, good power-to-weight ratio, summer (Goodyear NCT) tires, and drove it through several bad northern Ohio winters, one with snow over a foot many times. Once drove it home from Georgia to Ohio in the middle of the worst blizzard the mountains had suffered in years. For more than an hour, I was the only person on the road aside from a semi-trailer. The off-ramps were heavily snowed in and the traffic non-existent, so I just stopped and peed in the middle of the highway. Nobody around to see. I suspect the Z would have gotten me home, too. Just as Ayrton Senna drove in the rain, one can drive in the snow, too. You just have to adapt and be very smooth.

Davey 07-31-2012 02:21 PM

Summer tires in snow is a bad idea. Other than that, yeah, I drove on all-season radials in RWD cars through many winters.

Andyy 10-18-2012 08:23 PM

So what you end up doing? What you should do is keep your Z and buy a modded Evo 9. Have the best of both worlds

obito 10-19-2012 02:59 PM

you dont track, you dont mod. Now its up to ur taste. If you like Z style just go for it ,at proper color with 20$ then you can make it look beast, but with X only few people know how it different from Lancer EX. more over Z is girl magnet xD.
